Located in the heart of Lisbon, in a mandatory visit neighborhood as the Bairro Alto, just a few meters away from Chiado, you find in this Wine House a committed team in a relaxed, family atmosphere, accompanied by live music that animates every night. Between the passion for wines of Antonio Baeta and the passion for cuisine of Silvia Mendes, we get the alchemical mixture of two key ingredients that make the success of this house. On the one hand, more than 1000 national references between white, red, green, sparkling and fortified wine, where the vast majority can be tasted by glass, or even taken home bottled, on the other hand, a continuous search for the best Portuguese delicacies turned into simple dishes, but with great flavor, from cheese and sausages boards with homemade jams, to mussels or scallops gratinated, seared canned tuna, or even cod or octopus in the oven. Upstairs this XVIII century building, fully redone, you can find a room for the night in a cozy environment. Six bedrooms, some with private bathroom, a mixed dormitory, a common living room, a common kitchen where breakfasts are served or where you can cook your own food and an outdoor patio, make of this Hostel a selected place for those who like to enjoy the night of Bairro Alto, and want to stick around. Enjoy every moment of the two spaces in a relaxed way and with quality. Wine House Open every day from 12h00 to 24h00.

Fantastic food and wine experience!

I had read about Grapes & Bites online but we just happened to stumble across it on our first day. Very unassuming from the outside it would be easy to miss. Inside though the bar is rustic and interesting with wall to wall wines to choose from. Upon entry we were shown a table fairly quickly... read more

We ate here twice during our week in Lisbon. It has a great vibe and is very busy - if you're not there by 7.30 chances are you won't get a table without a lengthy wait. Excellent wines and ports to choose from and a nice selection of large tapas plates. Service can be slow and inconsistent but if you... More

Great ambiance with good service and wine selection. We had a special experience whereby they had a 1995 vintage port opened and available to try, which was incredible!!

We came for dinner at this restaurant on our first night in Lisbon, it was packed when we got there and so we had to wait outside for a little while. It was definitely worth the wait though!!! The food as great and the waiter recommended some great wines and tapas for us. I would definitely recommend that you book,... More

...because George, the proprietor is a REALLY nice guy and VERY engaging, but TripAdvisor would be pointless if all anybody ever wrote about were good experiences, right? (I am also baffled because I think this is the first time I went to a place based on TripAdvisor reviews and was so disappointed). The place does have great atmosphere. Live music, very... More

We stumbled across G&B whilst walking in the area looking for somewhere for dinner. The restaurant stood out to us as there was no one outside trying to get your attention. It helped that the décor was modern looking, with multitudes of wine on show and most importantly, it looked clean. The service was informative and friendly, making the atmosphere... More

The place was very bay on a Wednesday night. At the waiting line the staff offered me a tasting of a delicious dry white porto wine and this set me to a high expectation. I've got a place near the singer. With the extensive list of wine I decided to ask any red wine under £7.5 from 2009 (I like... More

...and we regretted not going our third night too! Everything about this place is great...The food, the staff, the atmosphere, the musicians and most importantly the wine. A special mention must go to our beautiful and talented waitress Nadia who made excellent wine selections for us on both occasions, catering exactly to our tastes and preferences without breaking the bank.... Found Grapes & Bites by chance on our first night. Had fabulous food & wine and fantastic atmosphere, so returned on out last night in Lisbon . Was served again by Ricardo (always with a smile on his face!) who had chosen a lovely wine on first night and made every possible effort to make sure our selection on second... More
