Description: Located in the heart of Lisbon, in a mandatory visit neighborhood as the Bairro Alto, just a few meters away from Chiado, you find in this Wine House a committed team in a relaxed, family atmosphere, accompanied by live music that animates every night. Between the passion for wines of Antonio Baeta and the passion for cuisine of Silvia Mendes, we get the alchemical mixture of two key ingredients that make the success of this house. On the one hand, more than 1000 national references between white, red, green, sparkling and fortified wine, where the vast majority can be tasted by glass, or even taken home bottled, on the other hand, a continuous search for the best Portuguese delicacies turned into simple dishes, but with great flavor, from cheese and sausages boards with homemade jams, to mussels or scallops gratinated, seared canned tuna, or even cod or octopus in the oven. Upstairs this XVIII century building, fully redone, you can find a room for the night in a cozy environment. Six bedrooms, some with private bathroom, a mixed dormitory, a common living room, a common kitchen where breakfasts are served or where you can cook your own food and an outdoor patio, make of this Hostel a selected place for those who like to enjoy the night of Bairro Alto, and want to stick around. Enjoy every moment of the two spaces in a relaxed way and with quality. Wine House Open every day from 12h00 to 24h00.

I've been there with my bf on Saturday night. It was full, but they arranged to give us a table. It was very noisy and the guy who was playing a guitar made it even worst. The tables were small and it was no privacy at all - one table next to the other. The food was pretty good (... More

Great music, awesome wine and excellent service. A must go in Bairro alto, Lisbon. The menu had all the wines of the Portugal regions and some more like the vast variety of finger foods.

Discovered this place on first night in Lisbon. Located in Barrio Alto, it has an excellent wine list and great appetizer selection. Staff will ask you what type of wine you like and then will make suggestions. Barrio Alto is a bit confusing yet I was always able to find Grapes & Bites. Lively place to stop before dinner or... Good atmosphere and very good service at this wine bar/restuarant. Food was excellent and authentic Portuguese. Choice of over 1000 wines. The staff were very helpful if you gave them a clue about what wine you might like. There was someone playing guitar when we were there and this added to the atmosphere. Well worth a visit

An extensive wine list for all tastes and a good set of dishes. It will not be my first choice for dinner but it is always a good place to spend the night if you like very loud live music.

Nice place in Barrio Alto, good wine list but overpriced food. Do not try the Menu Sorpresa, the price 44€ for two people is a lot when you see what it is included. Disappointed visit.

We were introduced to Grapes & Bites by Alex a.k.a. Your Friend in Lisbon where we had a port tasting alongside some cheese and cured ham/choriço plates. It was an excellent, informative tasting, and it certainly influenced our decisions on what goodies to bring back to the UK, as well as a return trip to the restaurant a few days... More
