the night before we left Lisbon to head back to the states after a wonderful vacation we had our final meal at this restaurant which had come highly recommended by friends. It did not disappoint. Eight of us tried many different items from appeteizers to dessert and not one was less than amazing. Service was excellent our waiter could not... More
Got this restaurant recommended by the hotel, Pestana Palace, and, by Jove !!! what a hit it was. We were very nicely received by Luis and received our apéritif promptly. Then the real experience began. Visit to the fresh fish display, discussion of numerous possibilities, a recommendation for a light starter and an excellent wine. Luis and the staff, pleasant... More
I recently had a nice seafood dinner at Doca Peixe in Lisbon. This restaurant was recommended to me by my hotel concierge after I told him I was looking for a superb Portuguese seafood dinner. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available at Doca Peixe and since the early October temperature was pleasant, I ate outside near the river marina.... More
Preferably if the weather permits stay at the varanda overseeing the marina. Must try "ameijoas ao Bulhao Pato" followed by grilled fish. Ask Maitre Luis to suggest the best fish. When in Lisbon we visit this restaurant at lest once, one of my preferred ones.
The restaurant has a great location with tables overlooking the Tagus River right under the Ponte do 25 de Abril. Good fish, wine, and service but not as inexpensive as advertised in guidebooks. You pay for the location.
Nice place to enjoy fresh fish. Fillet of sea bream was great with steamed vegetables. Flawless service, but quite noisy if you eat outside. So consider staying indoors to avoid the noisy bridge on top. Bit expensive so be prepared.
Doca Peixe is located at the restaurant alley called "Docas" just under the 25 de Abril bridge. It is a nice setting and this seams to be the most typical choice from all the other restauranta at this location - by far was the most crowded one.
Really enjoyed my meal of Mussels in tomato and onion sauce followed by Grilled Tiger Prawns all high quality and delicious. Plenty of choice on the menu including Filet steak which looked very good and was well received on opposite table. Service really was a delight. A touristy area and maybe you could get better value elsewhere but definitely worth... More
After dinner we had at Doca Peixe on our first night in Lisbon we could not resist to come back for more on the night when we were leaving. Absolutely superb grilled octopus, fantastic lemon meringue tart, everything fresh and served profesionally. Elegant but unpretentious decor. Nice view on the water. 'Must visit' place if you like fish and sea... More
