Good, cheap, friendly

A small restaurant centrally located that serves good basic food to locals and tourists alike. The menu is very slight but well chosen with a daily feature, usually fish. All is fresh and cooked simply -- no fancy sauces or spices. Fish and meats are for the most part charcoal grilled and are... read more

Loved it! Very friendly staff, cozy environment (with the azulejos on the walls), not expensive at all and we had a wonderful dinner. Highly recommended.

It is a very warm place in the centre of Lisbon. People are friendly, they make you feel very comfortable. The food is delicious, I took grilled salmon with salad and they had an amazing dessert, it was the dessert of the house. Excellent value for money, for a salad, main dish, dessert, sparkling water, an service charge for 20... More

Excellent restaurant, Portuguese specialties at their very best! The tuna steak is absolutely amazing! Staff is also very nice but we didn't appreciate that they served us an appetizer we didn't ask for (a little cheese very very good): we thought it was free but we only discovered on the bill that they made us pay for it. We then... More

A small and nice restaurant in Chiado with superb fresh grilled fish (taste e.g. the grilled tune) and a good portuguese wines (taste e.g. a red Alentejo wine). Do not miss it!

Excellent quality food with very friendly staff. We've been twice for dinner. Can recommend the tuna steak, sea bass and black pork dishes. Finish off with any one of the great deserts offered and you'll have a great dining experience. You won't regret it. I know we didn't, both times!

we went twice and the menu is always the same but you can find all you expect to eat in Lisbon: Sardinas and bacalao. A young lady from the staff speaks Italian, she's very friendly and customer caring. The price is not cheap if you consider that the same typical food can be eaten in small local restaurant less 'European'... More

We made a reservation for a table here on Friday evening & were sat upstairs. It's location is central. The service was warm, welcoming and friendly. The wine good. The food was tasty and delicious. All of this we enjoyed in a buzzing atmosphere with all tables full. We can only recommend it.

This is the place where I had the best Polvo in my life. Well, if you don't like octopus there are other options. The menu is written in simple terms, but don't hesitate to ask their staff what's in these dishes. They are friendly and they speak English very well. There a good and affordable wines and nice desserts. I... More

We had an ok food but nothing spacial. The waiter's behaviour was not good at all and i think they overprice us. They catch us reading the menu and they seems nice but once we get in they acted really weird

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
