Just go

Loved it. We were the only ones here both times we went so we spent a good amount of time chatting with the owner. Lovely guy and we even learned that different glasses make a difference when trying wine. Who knew!? Great guy, great wine, great experience. Go.

We stumbled across this place and had a great evening. Fabulous wines, great cheeses and a really good atmosphere. It was the perfect end to our final day in Lisbon, and offered everything that you would want from a small independent wine bar.

Passing after a visit too the castle, looked a nice place for a drink and a rest, we were given a very interesting lesson on wines and given 3 different ones too taste, we picked the one we liked and spent a few hours drinking several glasses of red wine very nice. And a selection of local cheese and bread... More

It was a mistake to go in the evening, to a place that was cold and empty. I don't like being lectured at about wine, I would rather be informed in a pleasant manner. Three modest wines were offered, and a fourth at €70. Portugal has so many good wines at reasonable prices, so this was a poor reflection of... More

On our way walking down from the castle, we stumbled past an outstanding gallery of a local artist and made a purchase. While the artist wrapped up our paintings, we stumbled upon this wine bar. Concerned that no one was inside, we paused before entering, but were given a gentle nudge by the rain that began to fall. Once inside,... More

We stopped in here after a windy and wet walk around the castle. Very knowledgeable servers talked us through the wines, giving us a taste so we could get exactly what we wanted. We had both a lovely red Wine and a fantastic tawny port. We also had a cheese board for two, while quite expensive it was huge and... More

As is the case with most people, we came across this little place on our way to the castle. Only about 7 tables some it fills up fast. They ask you what kind of wines you like, then bring you 3-5 to taste and you pick which one you want a full glass of. They have nice meat/cheese/bread platters to... More

After visiting the castle on a rainy day, we sought shelter at this wine bar. We are unfamiliar with Portuguese wine so Diego asked us what we like, let us taste a few wines before settling on the perfect glass. Cheese plate was good portion for two people (picture attached). Great find!

This winebar is just awesome: the prices are reasonable (start at 4€ per glas) and they offer approximately 150 different portuguese wines!!! The waiter explains carefully and in detail the wines and offers (after asking which kind of wine and which price you want) three wines to try. After trying you choose your favorite one. The cheese plate with a... More

We had a long day of sightseeing in Lisbon, and had just toured the castle. We saw the Wine Bar and it looked so warm and inviting. We were greeted by friendly staff who took the time to understand our taste in wines and brought us some lovely choices. We also enjoyed a delicious arrangement of sausages, cheeses and olives.... Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
