The waiter was quick to put a "couvert" (in this case a basket of bread, a plate with 2 pieces of packed butter , one piece of sardine paste and two already open small rolls of fresh white cheese) on the table before we could order anything. Actually we had only come for a drink but my wife finally also... More

The food was overcooked, the service was terrible and the price for the couverts was way over the top for any Portuguese standards. For the price I paid I could have had a really good meal down at the centre at some relatively fancy restaurant.

We had a great time in Lisbon, but unfortunately ate here for our last meal. The "couvert" we did not touch and when we questioned it on the bill the waiters suddenly forgot their English. Normally couvert is included in a menu of the day for a set price so if you do not eat any of it at least you... More

For us, we were hungry and noticed that the trolly from the castle were very crowded so we decided to just sit and eat somewhere. This place was nicely situated to see the trolly line so we sat down. Like other reviewers have noted, they immediately brought bread and butter. Bread was soft, unlike almost every other restaurant in Europe.... More

After walking and visiting places around the beautiful Alfama, my boyfriend and I we were looking for a place to have lunch, we saw this well located place with a good terrace and decided to have the lunch there. As many of people in the review, they brought us cheese and bread that we thought it was free but in... More

Most places were already closed as we got lost in Alfama then we decided to eat there...we ordered the easiest menu ever: an omelete and a hamburguer. However, the eggs were undercooked, the hamburguer didn't have any bread, the egg on the top of it looked awful and they were both dripping in grease. It was a waste of money!

A group of six called in for a drink. Like other reviewers we were given what we thought were complimentary snacks - when the bill came we were horrified. The most expensive drinks we had all holiday. Stay away!

It leaves a lot to be desired. We'd ordered before we Googled or we would have taken advice. We'd already asked them to take away the bits of cheese. We ordered a half bottle of Lello Branco from the wine list. We had grilled squid and some chips to share. It was ok and filled a gap. We braced ourselves... More

My experience does not match recent reviews, so I think that it is only fair to comment. We stopped at Sol Nascen after a morning's sightseeing. We were not expecting great cuisine and we were aware that its position meant that it was a tourist trap. We were aware of the charges for olives etc and accepted only the bread,... More
