The best meal we had while in Lisbon! The food here is excellent and the menu has a good variety of typical Portuguese dishes and other European food. Found it from other TA reviews but was wary that people can over estimate the food. However in this case the glowing reviews are justified. We shared a Monk fish risotto and... More

It is a central place to have a lunch or dinner. The waiters are very polite. Also the prices are excellent to eat typical food of Portugal. The menu is great, and the desserts are very good. I repeated two times. Totally recommended

We visited Destino after a chat with the promoter outside, after he caught eyeby spinning the menu around on one finger as you would a basketball and after a quick view of the menu... and it turned out to be absolutely delicious. The Cod gratin is highly recommended if you want to #live like a local...as it was noted to... More

Went for a late dinner and had great service, had a few small plates and a pasta dish, all were very good. Wine and sangria were too. Staff all spoke English. There were some street performers who came through asking for tips and one guy selling trinkets - found that annoying but after a polite thanks but no thanks they... More

I love this restaurant i went here 10 nights out of 12 for dinner with two friends who also really enjoyed it. I must say i have never been to a restaurant where everything tasted 5star. I loved the sea bass, peri chicken, the steak, cod fish and rice. Everything was amazing. The staff we're extremely friendly. The owners are... More

Well this restaurant is surrounded by hundreds of other restaurants to be fair all selling similar fayre... however what makes this restaurant different is the subtle persuasion of the maitre d' for you to look at their excellent menu, no pushiness like the aggressive sales techniques of the surrounding restauranteers. We had an excellent meal of bread, cheese, fresh fish... More

A lovely relaxed meal. Very good waiter, not too pushy inviting us in. The food was very good if a little plain. for starters I had melon and ham my husband chose ham, expecting it to be a selection. In actual fact it was the same amount of Parma ham I had just without melon. My husband had Brazilian beef... More

This area is surrounded by restaurants offering fresh grilled seafood. We picked Destino as it was the only restaurant that did not have an aggressive waiter outside pressuring you to go in. We were looking at the menu outside and approached by a waiter in a friendly manner who handed us a specials board and left us peacefully to make... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
