A great simple and tasty restaurant. Very friendly, for a mid day refuge from the hectic atmosphere of the shopping area.

Went looking for this place because of the reviews found it all closed up and shutters down on a saturday evening no menu in menu holder looks closed. Passed a couple of different evenings and still no sign of life so may have closed down?

I found this place by accident and smelled immediately that this was it. No Fado cliche, no fancy things, only very dedicated people that love food and want to show you that. The service is very friendly and eager to help you. We ordered house wine and vinho verde, typical portugese wine and they both taste wonderful. For meal we... More

We arrived in Lisbon extremely tired and hungry from our early flight. We wanted a place that locals love, and our hostel recommended this - it was a few blocks away. The service was spotty because the waitstaff really did not speak English - the couple sitting next to us helped us order and translate. At lunchtime on a weekday... More

Homely atmosphere. This is the place for locals generally. A lot of customers, because everything is fresh (and testy). Doradas I ate there several times was tasty. Andtheire home wine (I tried only white) for just 6EUR regular bottle was good. And when we was there for third time we already was treated like regular customers (they remembered our choices!).

My wife and I decided to go to this place based on reading the reviews on T.A. and were not disappointed . This place is crowded at lunch with locals and tourists alike for what is grilled fish and meat at an excellent price. The place is about as basic as you can get, with small wooded benches and rustic... More

One of the nicest things about Lisbon is that there are very few tourist traps and this family restaurant is no exception. Although tucked away on the edge of the commercial district and the tourist old city it is very local and the family went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They even disturbed the 'son' from... More

If you want brilliant sardines (and other fish) in central Lisbon at amazing places go to Restaurante Floresta das Escadinhas in Rua de Santa Justa No.3[--]. It's in a tiny steep street as you walk down from th castle to the centre. Very small and very friendly - and great value - you'll get decent beer or a quarter pitcher... More
