A welcome break form stuffy traditional restaurants

Built in a 19th century water reservoir for the lower city at the bottom of the aqueduct. The setting is cool and unusual. A perfect escape from the summer heat. I recommend eating upstairs to appreciate the space. The menu features different degustations of Portuguese tapas perfectly paired with... read more

Beautifully built wine bar making full use of the building it has occupied, serving excellent wine in atmospheric surroundings. Welcome was desultory to say the least however, so not the first choice for a future visit.

This was recommended by our hotel and we were so glad we went. A very unusual location - formerly part of the city water supply - the thick stone walls give this wine bar a distinctive atmosphere. Combining interesting Portuguese wines with beautifully made tapas, this wine bar is a highlight of Lisbon.

I was here on the coldest January for 50 years, or so people said! It was very quiet that evening, I was on my own upstairs like a monk, and downstairs a group from Germany. I thoroughly enjoyed the platter of food to accompany the wine, and the wine was simply delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Foz Torto, which I... More

First i want to say the place have great potential but with that said i did not realy enjoyed there. The waitress wasnt very pleasant and not informative. And for a place thats specialise in wine's i would have expected more. Overmore the food we ordered sounded great but when we received it the looks wasnt appealing and the taste... More

First of all, I send an email to this winebar/restaurant to ask for some information before leaving for Lisbon and the owner replied me very soon and very kindly. The place is located not very far from Rossio, in the "high" part of the city, a bit hidden, in Praça da Alegria, and it is a three-floors old tank. I... More

Had been here once before in the winter. Decided to try it again since time had passed. Initially charmed by the interior and historical factor. Having returned for the food, I was a bit disappointed. A bit over salted and portions were dismal. More tapas style which I very much like but unfortunately the food was lacking in substance. Nothing... More

Personnel very good, and someone professional. The building is an historic monument dating back from the aqueduct of Lisboa. A tour on the old aqueduct should be organized.... The restaurant/wine bar has no management, everything is left on the good will of the personnel sometime overstressed, and certainly not well paid. Prices are on the high level. The historic building... More

They have all the wine you need. Friendly staff and smal but cosy patio outside as well. OK but limited choices of food,

On Summer days, choose the veranda but don't forget to make a reservation. Have a try of tapas & petiscos or amuses-geules! Dozens of varieties of Portuguese wines. Make sure you know the basic differences between vineyard regions and types of wines. Discover the space incide. Relax at sunset and enjoy!
