Well executed but sanitised Fado experience

We wanted to see some Fado in an intimate bar or small club setting, with the locals in a small back street place in Lisbon. However, after struggling to get in anywhere on the first night of our three day stay, wer decided to play it safe and get the hotel to book us into a Fado club. Clube... read more

Clube de Fado in Lisbon is one of the very best restaurants in which you can hear the wonderful haunting Fado music very specific to Portugal. The staff were extremely welcoming helpful and friendly, and the food was very good typically Portuguese food, well cooked and presented. And the music was fabulous. The three hours cost two people 135 euros... More

We went there because it was recommended to us, fado performance itself was great, but food was so overpriced & they had to change my meal 4 times till they got it wrong, first to rate, then over cooked steak, changed to fish after all. They charge u €15 for Fado per person plus another €10 per person for seating.... More

We really enjoyed Clube as our taste of Fado during our Lisbon visit, but I don't recommend anything but the music and a couple drinks. We added dessert and spent €80.

Undoubtedly the worst and certainly the most expensive meal of a recent trip to Portugal and Madeira. But it was fun and memorable!!! Suited us well enough to eat in, which provides the best views and we enjoyed taking photos of the Love Actually proposal set. Service is good i.e.. speedy, wise-cracking and tourist-orientated, but you come for the music... More

If ever there was a tourist trap, this is it. Give it a miss. I had a bad feeling the moment we stepped through the door, especially after seeing the menu display board outside with main courses at 29/32 Euros. I had stone bass, a fitting course as it was served with stone cold vegetables on a stone cold plate.... More

Not knowing too much about this place, we made reservations for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised at the entire evening. The evening started a little shakey. We originally made reservations for two, but showed up with three people. We would understand if they could not take the three of us, but the man in front made a horrible face... More

The menu if very pricey and we spent over €150 on 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Entrees and the fado performance accounted for the remainder. The food was very tasty and when you consider the great unique experience of the fado performance we thought it was worth the money. A nice treat.

We were advised by locals to go for the music not for the food so we did just that. (the food is pricey) if you wish to only go for the music, you should not go until 10:30 if you go earlier, you will be expected to order a meal which can be pretty expensive. As it is, you will... More

This restaurant / fado entertaining was not my own choice, but decided upon by third party. I had a very pleasant evening. Traditional atmosphere, nice fado music and songs. Food was good and service fast. I think you will not go here for the best portuguese cuisine, but for the 'all over' atmosphere. As this was my first experience with... More
