We stumbled upon this restaurant when ambling around Alfama, and ended up being very pleasantly surprised at our luck in happening upon such a wonderful place. It's small, with about 8 tables, and has a cozy and simple yet charming decor. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive yet unobtrusive. My wife ordered the scabbard and I the sea bream. Both... More

I was walking around Alfama district without a precise goal when I jumped into this little old fashioned treasure. 1) it really looks like being at the house of locals 2) the quality of food is very good and filled with love, exactly what I wanted to find in my destinationless path 3) it is very easy going: few seats... I came here because of the good reviews from several websites including TA. the restaurant is quite small, with few tables. it is locked normally, and you will need to ring the bell, then the owner will open the door for you. grilled sardines was too salty for me. the breads and the olives served were expensive.

My sister and I decided on this restaurant for our last night in Lisbon because (a) it was next to our guest house, (b) we had read favorable reviews, and (c) we were charmed by the hand-painted sign with the daisies. On a cold mid-January night, we were the only diners until around 9:30 pm (being Americans, we are accustomed... More

This was our third visit to this lovely restaurant and we were not disappointed. We were the only diners on this occasion but we did not feel uncomfortable. The owner greeted us warmly and sat us at a table with a view out to the street so we could watch the world go by. The food is as good as... More

We arrived on a Saturday night at opening time and have no problems at all with service. The place was full by the time we left, with some people turned away because there was space reserved for a party of about 10 that was arriving later. I ordered the lamb, which was delicious. My husband had the pork. We were... More

We recently had dinner at Malmequer Bemmequer - what a big mistake. In all, there were two table at the restaurant - about 10 people - but we had to wait one whole hour to have our meals. Service is more than terrible. We asked the waiter (the owner in this case) for the wine list, we chose our bottle... More

We were first couple to arrive (8.00 pm) so service was ok. People who arrived later did not fare so well. Food was nice without being exceptional. House red wine excellent.

Would give this no stars if possible!! We arrived for dinner at 8pm and the restaurant wasn’t too busy (2 other tables with couples) having read some good reviews online. BIG MISTAKE. The rude proprietor told us that all of the fish was off the menu except Scabbard and Cod. So we ordered some scabbard and a Portuguese veal steak.... More
