It was ok, but only ok. Service was efficient but impersonal, house wine was average/poor, food was average. Nothing stood out and it was overpriced for what it offered. No reason to go back.

We ate here Saturday 29th June. The seafood is exceptional. I had prawns and sole and my Partner had a steak. Both meals were fantastic. The restaurant is so attractive and spotless. Would highly recommend :))

Stopped here on out first night as recommended by wine shop owner but disappointing. Gambas in garlic were over cooked, probably pre-cooked and added to garlic butter rather than cooked in it, and probably frozen. Fish stew had the same gambas still over cooked. Sardines were ok. Probably best to stick to the fish only.

Visited as a party of 4 on a Friday night after spotting the restaurant from the car. The building (farmhouse-style) is very inviting - especially the verandah tables covered by plants. The location is convenient to the beach and local nightlife. We were sweated at an outside table, and refreshingly were allowed to smoke! The main verandah faces towards the... More

First of all, the staff is very competent, professional and dutiful. The rooms are very nicely decorated. The food is excellent, including the couvert. Divine sole with vegetables and potatoes extremely well cooked served by experienced and attentive waiter. We choose to accompany the meal with a bottle of Luis Pato Baga (sparkling wine) and it was a wise decision.... More

Visited this place on day 11 of a 14 day holiday and it was by far the worse restaurant and most expensive we visited. Everything was hurried from menu to wine poring (poured it so quick it ended up in my starter). Waiters hover over to clear your plates. Wouldn't recommend it.

We asked a friendly waiter at our hotel for a restaurant recommendation - he gave us Casa Velha. Before booking I checked out the reviews on Tripadvisor. Having read the rather mixed reviews I almost didn't book - what a big mistake that would have been! CV is a truly outstanding restaurant and is in the same league as Hemmingways... More

I would rate Casa Velha as "good" given the large number of great seafood restaurants in Cascais. There's a wide selection of food (meat and fish) and a reasonable wine list. We had pata negra as a starter (17€ but probably twice this in the UK!); halibut fillet and grilled sardines as a main; strawberries with port as a desert... More

For simply amazing seafood there are many to choose from in Lisbon. however the choice is whittled down to this one exceptional eatery. Its classic in mannerisms and fare offered. We lumped immediately for the steaming, aromatic fish stew which would have made my Hungarian mom nod in approval. Then it was the royal king of the fishy-world ,seabass whole and... More
