Egg custard Dream

You're only going there for their superb Pastel de Nata. Be mindful that the long lines are most often for take out, so go to the other door and go in and get a table. This is an old and traditional place in Lisbon you should not miss. They are known for the delicious Pastéis de Belém, but the Cod rolls are just marvelous. The hot chocolate was to die for and the "Porto Wine" huuummm delicious. Do not come here in a hurry as it is always very busy.

The queue down the street says it all, this is the best place for these wonderful Portuguese custard treats. You can queue to take away or do what we did and have a shorter wait for a table. they do more than custard tarts and have quite a wide menu of light meals and drinks. I would recommend ordering more... More

It's in most of the guidebooks so busy with tourists but the quality of the custard tarts was great and you can sit in the café part and enjoy them with a coffee whilst working out what the animals depicted on the blue and white tiles actually are!

I can only echo the comments of previous reviewers… We can here to sample the renowned custard tarts but fell in love with the meat puff pastries and other savoury snacks! Don’t be put off by the queues outside – go inside to find a table. Even if the front of the café looks busy, keep going – there are... More

We had been here several years ago and decided to come back to see if the pasteis were still just as delicious. They were indeed - fresh, crisp, not too sweet (we had had some other in the center of Lisbon the same morning). (The interior is still spectacular, too - and watching the actual baking is fun every time.)... More

We wondered what the long queue was for and it turned out to be for this cafe's takeaway custard tarts. We avoided the long queue by sitting at a table and ordering some with coffee, you can also order your takeaway ones at the same time. It is well worth sitting at a table as you can have a good... We love natas so visiting this famous cafe was a must and exceeded all expectations. Natas here are really the best, freshly baked, still warm and absolutely scrumptious. Natas are sold all over Lisbon but they are nothing like the ones they sell here. The savory snacks are also super good. Don't be discouraged by the long queue outside- this... More

We caught Bus 714 from Praca Figuiera to Belem. Pasteis de Belem are legendary, and justifiably so. The cafe is easy to spot as there is always a queue outside. These people are waiting to either buy to take away, or to eat and drink standing at the shop bar. You can ignore the queue and walk inside and find... More
