defines its own kind ... incredible

I had to admit I had my reservations, you all know that most places with such a touristic reputation could be deceiving at times. But this is not the case at all ... I've hardly tried something as delicious as those Pasteis de Nata. You have to try them, period. There is no possible description... read more

You have to go there and order some Pasteis de nata. I loved the hot chocolate as well and the lemonade. It is always full and busy, but it doesn't mean will take longer to get what you had ordered.

Going to Lisbon and not coming here would be considered a real sin! Warm and absolutely delicious! It is difficult to resist the temptation of not having more than one Pastel de Belem! There is plenty of tables, so avoid staying in the front rooms, usually crowded. Explore the rest of the café and have a look how they make... More

Well we have tried many other nata imitators from Lisbon to Macao but nothing really compares to the original Pasteis de Belem. As commented on by other reviewers, it is a bit of a queue for a table (or you can do takeout/eat at the counter) but when they are very much worth the wait. The pastry is really crumbly... More

This will be the best custard pies you will ever try guaranteed! Definitely worth visiting, usually a long queue of tourist outside but well worth queuing for.

It might seem like a tourist trap and a horrible mass hysteria, but my god, once you've tried that little crunchy&creamy piece of heaven, there's no going back.Ever!

Staff were all smiley and friendly, excellent customer service. But the pastel de nata and the savoury pastries are so over-rated it's ridiculous. I tried them on a number of occasions and was left completely bemused and speechless by the long queues and tourists saying they tasted "amazing". Go to Italy or Britain for MUCH better cakes and savoury pastries.

Mouth-wateringly delicious! Worth the visit to Belem just to have one! It is also a beautiful venue!

We arrived at 10ish on a Sunday morning in April. Place was already heaving, but we found a table in the enormous back room and had pasteis and coffee, with other breakfast items. The pasteis are warm, the pastry crisp and the custard just set and subtly flavoured with nutmeg - much better than we had anywhere else in Lisbon... More
