There is no doubt that everybody comes here for the Pastel de Nata and they will not be disappointed. But avoid anything else - we sampled the cod and shrimp pastry and were massively underwhelmed. The 'Cochina de galina' was just awful. We ate in but it would have been better to go for take away, even if the price... More

Delicious pastry. Even though we tried other copies in Lisbon, none is compared. Delicious, crunchy.

This is the kind of house that the locals go. Pasteis de Belém is a convent recipe that was kept in secret until the closure of the convents. The quality has not changed during the many decades of this establishment. When going here you have 3 ways of getting served, do not get scared with the queue. The Casa Pasteis... More

WOW! All these 5 stars!!! And there's no arguing with public opinion. Or is there...? Are all these reviewers just mindless sheep following the hoards of Korean tourists being led by the umbrella waving guide on a backhander? There's no doubt there's a bit of that, a tick in the tourist's to do box, but I have to say the... More

Very tourist place, very croudy, but with the specific authentic atmosphere. One visit should be done, but that's enough

Was well told before visiting Lisbon not to miss them, and so glad I didn't miss them! Was not expecting them to be warm - a bit crumbly to eat, but well worth the effort. The interior of the cafe/restaurant was fascinatng with the blue and white tiling pictures of old Belem. An experience!

we had Pastel de nata at few places in Baixo Chiado and Bairro Alto and were left with a bad taste of cold and stale pasties, we wanted to skip Pasties de belem thinking it will be same, but the long que in January shocked us. still thought with this big que the pasties will be cold and pre-cooked. but... This is simply the best pastel in the world. And trying it here is the top of your pastel de Nata experience in portugal. They are served warm just coming out of the oven. Cinnamon and sugar on top and you have the heaven of bakery. I always go back when I'm back to lisbon!

During our stay in Lisbon, we had the chance to sample the pastel de nata from several places. This on is hands-down the best. We tried to go on a Sunday, but the line was so long, we weren't able to get in. (Admittedly it was a holiday weekend.) A second try midweek was more successful. Other pastelarias will say... More
