FANTASTIC Pastries - A MUST When in Lisbon

I was here earlier this month on a group tour. The Paisteis de Belém were the best pastries I've ever tasted! A small group of us stopped here again on our last day, because the paisteis were so incredible. I'm missing this place already!

Went here just for the fact of telling i ate this cakes, they are a historic piece of lisbon, maybe the magic is making that long line. They pack the cakes careless, you can tell this is not done with love, just as another customer more. There are better options in Lisbon with no line included. An entrepeneur would make... More

The original purveyor of the Pasteis, Casa Pasteis de Belem has the recipe down to an art. The custard tarts are guaranteed to be the best in Lisbon and possibly from anywhere. For a good time to go, aim for weekday mornings when there are less local tourists visiting Belem. If you're not after a take-away box of six, go... More

I went with three friends to the Casa Pasteis de Belem after visiting the monastery and tried one of their pasteis de nata it was moreish, The best pasteis I have tried during our 5 days in Lisbon. We were also told they use a secret recipe. There is also a wide choice of other cakes available However, it is... More

My wife and I called to the Casa after a visit to the Manastery, and we bypassed the line of people waiting for take away, and sat in the restaurant and had sandwiches, tea, coffee, and of course Pasteis de Belem. The pastries were really excellent,as was the coffee. The restaurant is a warren of rooms and is much larger than at first sight.Well worth a visit.

A place at a walking distance from some famous attractions (Jerônimos Monastery, Padrão do Descobrimento, Museu dos Coches, Belém Tower). The pastry is not much sweet, ask the waiter to heat it. There are 400 seated places; if you have time, take a seat inside and enjoy a capuccino and a "pastel" or 2, or 3...It is worth it!

No visit to Belem, or Lisbon for that matter, would be complete without eating at this establishment. If you want to sit down, bypass the lineup for take away and seat yourself. The waiters were friendly and fast. The ham sandwich was very basic but very nice...rustic bread, ham and butter. The quiche is served slightly warmed but basically at... More

So if you want to have some freshly baked delicious pasteis de nata that are still warm and flaky crusty full of goodness then this is the place to go!!! I've been there when there are no lineups and was also there when there was a huuuge lineup. Still worth the wait and since its pastries, it goes by pretty... More
