This place was just great. Delicious rustic Portugese food served in a tiny busy space. Service very good and authentic. The prices are ridiculously cheap. Don't miss it.
Fantastic local spot for tasty Portugese food served is a small, cozy atmosphere. The staff is great, offering suggestions on local favorites, and providing efficent and friendly service. The pork with mushrooms and ribs with beans and rice were well seasoned, and delicious. I can see why this place is popular with both locals and tourist.
You feel like you need a password to get in to this tiny grotto of an eatery. We saw some people standing in an alley next to what looked like a derelict storefront. Then, magically, it opened and we piled in, with the owner/waiter pointing - how many? you there, you and you, there, he's standing over you, squeezed into...

The food was not pretentious. The chief waiter was friendly and funny. We were served with different sorts of cheese and bread, then stewed lamb and pork, with beans, huge portion of potato and vegetable. Including house wine and chocolate it costs 30 Euro for two people. The great joy here is the atmosphere, rustic and authentic and jam.

Ze Manel is the stereotypical 'tasca' - a small restaurant serving very typical Portuguese food. The restaurant is an institution in Coimbra, with the jovial service and great food being well known to the locals. The unique decoration, personable service and superb food make it a very worthwhile pit stop for tourists and locals alike.
The restaurant doesn't take bookings,...

Here you can find a tipical portuguese "tasca". You can eat so well, drink really good wine (ask for the " vinho da casa"), take ridiculous photos and pay with a smile! Have to go early to dinner, this place is really small ... Good luck!
We were there for a short trip, I checked the Trip advisor one day before and because of the amazing reviews we went there for lunch.
It opened around 13:00 (or a little bit later than that) on Saturday and was totally full in 30 minutes. We were lucky to have a table and were surprised by the popularity of...

Very small (we passed the restaurant 3 times when we were looking for it), budget friendly, great atmosphere, good food, and a friendly waiter who helped us with the translation of his menu: a restaurant with a good vibe!
This place is a trip. Hidden down an alley, crowded and wonderful. A vegetarian's nightmare. Just order what the owner tells you to and you'll be fine, pork is the speciality. We made friends with a neighboring table of musicians and they took us to hear Fado music at a late night club in a chapel. It's that sort of...
