Fresh food, good service

We had dinner here, and sat outside on the sheltered terrace. The food was very good & fresh (Calderada was wonderful, fish, shellfish, onions, tomatoes & potatoes cooked together & far too much for the two of us to finish!). Service was also very good. Not the cheapest place but certainly the best... read more

We visited O Mariñeiro for lunch and sat outside as the weather was warm. The inside of the restaurant was attractively furnished. We had fried squid which was perfectly cooked. The service was very good and we would have definitely gone back for an evening meal had we not been leaving the island the next day. The price was very... More

We went twice, concentrating on seaffod (superb shellfish starters - try the garlic 'shrimps' or prawns as the English would call them, the fresh tuna steaks which weere the best we'd ever tasted, and the crab). Service was friendly and informative. You can eat more cheaply in Ponta Delgada, but the setting (on the pier) and decor were both very... More

Generous portions of seafood near the cruise port-- children's portions with soup, main entree and dessert were unbelievable. Swordfish was also an excellent choice. Ambiance and service were excellent. We appreciated that they were open on Mardi Gras Tuesday.

We had tuna steak that was simply great - both the one we ordered well done as well as their standard medium. The staff was very friendly.

This place is great for a "social" meal, a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic menu! We went here on consecutive nights and sampled contrasting but excellent food and drink. On the first occasion we went for "Paella and Sangria" ( I know not very Azorian!) as we wanted something reasonably light. The Paella was as good as I had anywhere... More

Yum! Yum! Yum! A great dinner with great Sangria. Thought the Sangria was a bit pricey but it complemented the great dinner and company.

We went here just for a snack and ended up enjoying their grilled "lampas" (limpets) a kind of shells that used to be poor man's food once. Now they taste lovely with oil and garlic, almost like French escargots. Heaven with green or red wine. We had some good local cheese on the side (Sao Jorge). My wife had a... More

4 of us arrived for a celabratory dinner. We stood in door way and were seated with no menus. 15 minutes passed and we were given menus after I asked. A further 20 mins and we asked a passig waiter for a drink....we got an index finger indicating wait. 5 minutes passed and I stood up and asked for service.... More
