Food great but elements of service lacking

We dropped in here for a meal after discovering that the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. The staff were friendly, and we got seated quickly. Menu is not extensive but contained some innovative meals. My wife orderd the veal and pinapple on a skewer and I chose the regional beef. Both... read more

The Casa Acoreana is a delightful restaurant off the beaten track from the main streets in Ponta Delgada. Claudio, our waiter, was friendly and professional, and communicated our dietary requests to the chef. On three separate occasions, we were served deliciously prepared vegan food. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

During our stay at Vila Franca do Campo we visited Ponta Delgada. Walking through the streets we found this gem. First day we ask for local food and had priperi chicken and Veal. Both dishes were excellent. At the end we said we are planning to vista Ponta Delgada again in couple of days and asked them if they can... More

We went in expecting a more traditional experience, but far from it. Food was presented in a somewhat gourmet fashion and it was delicious - we had fish fillets and those were pretty good, even though not being present in a more convencional or traditional manner. A bit expensive, but a nice meal was had.

First things first; the service was amazing. The only thing that could top the service would be the food. Started withe grilled chorizo, then the veal (amazing), and finished up with delicious honey pudding. A must stop on the island. Will definitely be back.

Lovely place with great food and friendly service. Very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend the veal and pineapple. We will be back.

Party of ten went there May 3 for evening meal. Staff very helpful and friendly but let down by bad management of kitchen area. They seemed unable to cope. Starters arrived with some mains, some mains sent back as not very hoy (veal skewers in particular). All the steaks were done medium, not rare or well done as requested. I... More

Our favorite restaurant of the trip. The wine-excellent (do the local house wine a pitcher will do). My wife had a steak and loved it. I had the grilled limpets and octopus and loved them. The best limpets and octopus I have ever had. As to dessert, my wife liked the local pineapple cake but I had to fight her... More

We had been trying to find a restaurant that prepared grilled squid. We only happened upon this restaurant our very last day for a late lunch. We had what we were told was grilled squid in another town when we hired a car but it was more opaque, more of a salad. Not bad but not what we wanted. When... More

Went there with a group of friends but the tables were arranged in a way that we couldn't see everyone because there are columns in the way, that was a negative point. The food was served in a buffet, as asked for by the person who organized the party, it was very tasty and seasoned as a local would, the... More
