Had read reviews on Trip Advisor, that Boca was a total one man show. Ricardo, the owner, does it all: hosts, waits tables, buses the tables, cooks your meal! Quite impressive. We were more than happy to let him make recommendations. We had & loved: the grilled octopus (Ricardo claims is the best in the world!, what is best described... More

We also were able to walk in without a reservation. The service was excellent, considering that Ricardo was the host, chef and bar tender. He was very knowledgeable and speaks English perfectly. We both had grilled tuna, done perfectly, with a nice sear but still red throughout. He recommended a fantastic wine to pair. As a bonus, he also served... More

We tried to get in without a reservation without luck, so we made a reservation for the following night and were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed Ricardo and all his recommendations. We tried the best octopus in the world and fish pastry and both were wonderful. He presented us with a collage of appetizers and desserts all of which were... More

Ricardo is a machine. He works the kitchen, tends to the bar, and does all the table service at this small, 9-table restaurant in Ponta Delgada. Beyond his food, which was the best I had on my entire trip, I I have never seen a chef so enthusiastic about his dishes. He talks about them like they he is describing... More

Same as every place I went to on the island food was bland and needed seasoning. Guess it must just be an Azores thing. Liked talking to the chef after wards. He was super nice and runs the whole place by himself. Would have liked to try one of the steaks, but opted for something cheaper. Nice restaurant and nice... More

My wife and I went twice during our vacation. First we were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation. Upon Ricardo's recommendation I tried "The best Octopus in the world" and was not disappointed, it was amazing and the best I've ever had. His wine recommendation was also perfect. A few nights later we returned with a reservation,... More

We went for lunch last week and had a very pleasant and reasonably price experience. I do caution you, this is a small restaurant, seating about 25 people, but it is a ONE MAN operation, he cooks, he serves, he chats, he buses tables. We arrived at noon for lunch and were the first customers of the day. So, we... More

We absolutely LOVED our dinner at Boca de Cena. Everything was delicious from start to end. The Chef's wine recommendation was bang on (we even bought a bottle to bring home with us). He is such a personable guy and really is a one-man show welcoming guests, taking orders and making the food, but somehow he does it all. We... More

We loved Ricardo , who greets you, cooks for you ,and waits on you. We went on the trip advisor reviews and were so glad we did. We both had scallops to start, followed by a very rare steak, so make sure you ask for it cooked well if you don't like it blue. I had the tuna which was... More
