We loved Ricardo as well as the wonderful food.

This restaurant really has a top recommendation!! At this night we were four friends and we tried three different menus for dinner! Fish, lula (calamari) and beef!! Each one was perfect made and with a very intensive and tasteful taste!! The beef was the best meat I ever had in my life! Very tide meat, really well done but still... More

Ate twice at this restaurant and had great meals on both occasions. Listen to Ricardo when he recommends what to eat and what wine to have. On the second occasion we were unsure about what to have, so Ricardo advised having three main meals which he would split into two so that we both had a try at the octopus,... More

Last evening in town, we saw the critics on trip advisor and decided to have a go. Ricardo is the chief, waiter and adviser. He literally told me what to choose after few questions. Really the best we had in the island. Everything was succulent, juicy and perfectly cooked. The portions are very generous, we asked for 2 different dishes... More

With personal service by the chief himself, Ricardo, ate the best octopus of my life with an excellent wine, an intimate atmosphere and extreme comfort, I can only advise everyone not to lose the experience.

I had read all of the good reviews regarding this place but was disappointed by my experience. I was at Boca de Cena on a week night and there were few people there. Even without any customers the manager seemed preoccupied and the service was poor. I had the fillet mignon steak. It was very tough and not well prepared.... More

Ricardo is practically a one man band (he admitted to getting help this season with the washing up) but boy is he cooking with gas. We were recommended to eat here upon arrival in the Azores and having experienced it the one time we very quickly made sure we went back for second helpings before our short stay ended. You... More

Our host mentioned Boca de Cena and so we decided to try. Went on a Tuesday night but would suggest making a reservation for weekends. As other reviewers have mentioned it's pretty much a "one man show" - one person who's front and back and possibly one other person in the kitchen. Go with an open mind. We were told... More

Boca de Cena is a great restaurant with delicious food and very unique service. Ricardo- the owner, is a Chef and a waiter in the same time which is very cool :) He is advising you what meal you should try, what wine will match the best with it and he is very friendly and funny person. We were so... More

A recommendation from a local walking guide. I was greeted courteously by the proprietor and was impressed by the menu and his enthusiasm, but over the course of my meal it became clear that he was working alone, hence service was very slow. My main meal of battered swordfish arrived on a pile of stir fried vegetables (predominantly cabbage) all... More
