Very Slow Service - Crowded - Drinks overpriced for area

Sitting in a crowded bar during the day (or night) is not my way of enjoying a peaceful holiday. Having said that, other than it being interesting on the inside there is nothing spectacular about it. I've been in there twice and my reaction to it has been the same. I would rather buy a bottle... read more

After a day of solo afternoon exploring on a hot summer day...I stopped for a chilled Gin and Tonic. The place was tiny and crowded but the atmosphere was fun. Really hit the spot as I stared out at the marina and planned the rest of my afternoon activities.

We visited here whilst on a cruise and had time to spare which was as well since the few staff were rushed off their feet catering for locals and tourists alike. There was plenty in this bistro cafe to look at and a visit to the upstairs scrimshaw museum is recommended. The steak I ordered was marinated in rum and spices... More

Great sailors pub, with burgees hanging from all over the world. A must stop, for any boater travelling The Azores.

Visiting in the off season, Peter's is one of the few places open in a deserted town. We had dinner there one night and drinks and coffees a few times. The staff is friendly and attentive and the prices are correct. The dinner I had was a bit too heavy for me as I ordered grilled Cod. It was served... More

We were about 5 days out sailing from St Martin to Horta and really looking forward to a beer at the legendary Peter's Cafe. As we moored alongside the quay we caught site of Peter's above us. It wasn't long before we walked into a very welcoming atmosphere and the first cold beer for a long time. We were surrounded... More

This place is very close to the marina, and is a good place to go for a few drinks, and maybe a lunchtime snack. Had the Peter's signature steak one evening and it was very average, but we were in a big group and everyone enjoyed themselves anyway.

Peter's Cafe Sport is worth a visit, especially out of season when many other places are closed or deserted. But: do not count on their bathrooms! Why a place that makes so much money all year round would offer their customers such filthy and run down facilities, I really don't understand. -Don't you tend to draw conclusions on a restaurant's... Great prices, good food, lots of choice, atmospheric, busy...the place to head for in Horta. Better off inside ironically to view all the flags I think, rather than outside on the decking.

Horta is Land Ho for sailors achieving a wear-to-east crossing from the Americas to Europe. Peter Café Sport is often the chosen place for celebration, as it was a few years ago in our lives. In the intervening 13 years, Peter has kept the bar as it has been, filled with chairs convivially jammed together, customers placing their orders at... More
