Lovely meal

We started here with an icy cold small beer each. Then we shared covers and a 1kg crab. Everyone enjoyed the crab. Then John ordered a giant kebab of squid and peppers which he really enjoyed. Moyra was disappointed with her mixed salad as it was a bit ordinary. My pork with mushroom cream sauce... read more

On a quick wander round Silves, decided on Casa Velha, close to the castle. Not the "prettiest" of restaurants but clean, tidy and a very friendly staff. Just wanted a quick lunch. "She who must be obeyed", opted for the fish fillet, had a VERY light batter, good portion of fries, rice(!) and salad. I chose Bitoque de Porc (... More

Four of us went in the evening and ate from the 7.50 Euro menu. We had bread and olives followed by fish or veg soup then I had the pork escalopes which was served with rice and chips and which I loved. My partner had the mackerel which he really enjoyed and the other two had piri piri chicken which... More

We always go to this under estimated restaurant whenever in Silves. excellent 7.50 euro set meal. Quirky humour, very good food. We have not strayed from the set menu (as we go at lunchtime) but am told the main menu is is excellent.

we went to silves for a sunshine break 1st week in march, the weather was beautiful and we had a smashing pavement meal of olives[ wife loves them] and fish for the main, superb both in quality and value, the service was good and attentive without being overbearing, thoroughly enjoyable experience, will be back for a replay in sept.

We are just resting back at our campsite after a quite splendid lunch at Casa Velha. I see the mixed reviews above, but our experience was very positive. We ate outside on the pavement under the canopy because we had our dog with us and it was a joy to watch the storks on a nearby rooftop. The weather was... More

We have eaten here several times. And never been disappointed. The "Special menu" is three courses with a wide selection to chose from, beer/wine coffee and a port. €7.50 really good value. Theres always a warm welcome from the staff and they have a particularly wicked sense of humour. We have eaten from the main menu also, fresh cooked fish,... More

We went out for an inexpensive lunch after receiving a flyer advertising a fixed menu for € 7.5 per person. We had bread (a bit old) and olives (very nice) followed by fish soup (good), then chicken piri piri (good, with chips rice and salad) next came chocolate mousse (good) a nice espresso and glass of port (not so good)... Stopped for lunch here after visiting the castle. The staff were a little pushy and we were served a couvert that hadn't been ordered (this is bread, butter, a whole cheese, prawns and olives - varies from restaurant to restaurant). All other places we ate in always asked if you wanted it. The prawns smelled very strongly and were clearly... More

We enjoyed our lunch at this is a small restaurant in the centre of Silves. It specialises in seafood, particularly lobsters, crabs and other shellfish. We found the service to be first class and the dishes were well prepared. Prices are generally less than in the coastal towns.
