As a previous reviewer put its good honest well cooked food. What I liked was that things were served in different ways it wasn't just chips with everything. One steak came with rice and red beans (and a few chips of course). The house red was a real bargain and the chocolate mousse very nice. Staff were lovely and very... More

Not "haute cuisine" but good honest well cooked food at fair prices. Try the sole fillets, the Portuguese smoked sausages for lunch, when available are delicious. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced. I would recommend booking for the evening. Good choice of desserts for those with "room left" for one.

Although I have only given this restaurant a rating of three, it's a bit better than that - more like a three and a half. Decent enough soup, nice sauce with the Portuguese steak, my wife's chicken piri-piri was a bit underwhelming though, not hot (spicy) enough for her iron stomach and it wasn't served with salad, which is what... We'd hoped for a little break from the local fare but the Greek restaurant we'd walked to was boarded up. Tired, we asked our concierge who pointed across the street. We were hesitant but the owners were delightful and they made me a special omelette with fresh tomato and a wonderful cheese. My friend's dinner was also very good, as... More

The owners of Afonso are really friendly and made us welcome immediately. The restaurant is immaculate and clean and the food is really fresh and tasty. The owner goes to the market every morning while his wife makes the desserts. There is a great menu selection as well as the usual daily fresh fish display that was fresh every day.... More

Efficient and friendly staff. Varied and local menu. The mackrel saldd Algarvian Style was amazing. Steaks were tender and juicy. Sangria was cold and very very good! Value for money - couldnt ask for more.

This is a place where the food is good the service is ok but at the end the price is right. So if you have time go. It's got a nice court yard in from of the restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this restaurant which was just across the square from the hotel we stayed. Very friendly husband and wife team who accommodated myself and my partner who has dietary issues. Wonderful food, very reasonable too. Would definitely come back again.
