Good food

We visited for the all you can eat menu at €11 (fish a bit small for our taste, too many bones) but opted instead for the Dorado of the main menu 9.50€. Both are served with big bowl of salad and potatoes. Fish grilled beautifully and service very friendly. House wine €6.50 litre. good value... read more

We ate here 2 times in the last 2 weeks as my mother was visiting from the UK and she enjoyed her meal so much, she thought the fish was the best she has ever eaten, a real compliment. It is predominately a fish restaurant but they do have meat on the menu as well, I had the pork escalopes,... More

Both fresh fish and grilled squid we had were delicious. Over nearly a week we spent in Lagos the dorada (golden seabream) I had in Barrigada was the biggest one and the tastiest, although competition on the food market is fierce in town. I wish we had discovered this spot earlier, so we could check it again. Highly recommended, also... More

Great food reasonably priced. Location is a bit off putting but don't let that stop you visiting this restaurant. Service was great and we will definitely return.

A down-earth small restaurant, you sit on wooden benches, in a non-fashionable part of Lagos. We are a family of 4 , 1 had pork and 3 of us had fish, Bream and Swordfish, simply grilled with butter, no fancy sauces with tiny crunchy chips complimenting the soft fish and salad. We also had two covers consisting of bread, carrots... More

We came a couple of times over the summer. I loved it, great grilled fish and salad Algarvia. My wife however didn't like it. She said it was way too salty. Yes typical Portuguese restaurants do put a little too much salt on the food so maybe mention it if you're not a too salty seafood fan.

Don't miss a Barrigada. Just don't. This great little restaurant (the name means "food coma" by the way) is a bit hidden away, but that makes getting to it so worth it. By the fishing port, but away from the many tacky, touristy joints it is a unpretentious breath of fresh (well, fishy) air. We had the all you can... More

Barrigada was recommended by our boat tour driver. Apparently the name means big stomach, and based on the serving sizes it's a good choice of name. The restaurant is a little bit out of the way, and fairly simple in it's offerings and decor. However it is worth the visit. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious!!

Amazing restaurant recommended to us by one of the locals. Scabbard fish is so good. there are no words in this world to describe how tasty it was. I will just say that we came here for lunch and came back here once again while on holidays. (well we tried twice but it was closed) Amazing, simple and fresh food.... More

Local is off the tourist trail which does not mean it is empty, reservation is a good idea or you can come early. It is simple and cheap (I mean really cheap) restaurant but food (which is the most important thing) is excellent and fresh. If you want to eat great sea food (and lots of it) on the budget,...
