Very good food

We got to this place by accident and we were hungry so the menu of the day sounded good. We had some traditional food and it was lovely. The place is quite small but cute and has very decent prices. The service was a bit slow, as there was only one waiter to the whole place, but otherwise it was... read more

The place is right across the entrance of the Hospital, it is tiny so you need to book or wait. It was a very breezy night and we were seating outside with 2 small children. They took the order immediately but then they disappeared. We kept asking were the food was and they keep telling us it was neatly ready.... More

We found this place by accident ( althought it's advertised on the free touristic map of lagos ) and we were pleasantly surprised! It's a family ran restaurant, the dishes are cheap, generous and tasty and all home made by mama. They are well known for their paella and cataplana, but you must order 4 hours in advance because its... More

Ala do Castelo is run by an Ukrainian family, living 14 years in Lagos. The owner/waiter can explain the menu for you in Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, English and Ukrainian! The food is excelled and well priced. We had two portions of different mussels and a portion of prawns with garlic. Everything very tasty and quickly served. It's a real bargain... More

Small and out of the way place and not what we expected. The food is outstanding!! My husband and I are foodies and rarely visit the same restaurant twice while on vacation. We have gone twice in two days. The sea bass and brim are fresh and prepared to perfection. Tonight we had the cataplana, a seafood dish known to... More

We ate here in July 2014 and were extremely happy with the food and the service. We ordered the paella two hours in advance and when we arrived for dinner, our table was ready and waiting for us. The paella was delicious!! I am very surprised by the negative comments on service, we had one of the friendliest waiters we've... More

My partner and I visited this restaurant following rave reviews on trip advisor. To be honest the food was fairly average - we ordered seafood cataplana and the mixed grill. The seafood was lovely, but really no better than we have eaten in other local Portuguese restaurants. What was disappointing was the service; waitstaff were friendly but our appetisers never... Came here one night in Lagos with 2 friends. We were recommended the restaurant by our hostel. We went for dinner and I walked down and booked a table prior although you could still get a table as a walk in. We ordered the 5 euro prawns as a shared entree which were delicious and fresh. We then had as... More

Off the beaton track and well worth looking for. A small local restaurant with wonderful food, we had a seafood cataplana for 2 which was to die for. Didn't mind having to wait for the cataplana to cook because then you know it's fresh and it was well worth the wait.
