Food great, restaurant cosy, service slow

I had the lamb for dinner, it was delicious. My partner had the kid and it was very nice and it was a big portion. I had the algarve speciality for desert and it tasted like a pasteis de Belem but a little nicer. The house red was tasty too. The restaurant was decorated nicely. Service was a bit... read more

We took a bus from our hotel in Alvor to the beautiful resort of Lagos about 25 mins up the coast. We had come across a restaurant called Don Sebastiao on the internet and because of the great reviews we decided to pay it a visit. It was early evening about 5pm when we arrived and because it was so... More

Discovered this restaurant by chance. Some people may be put off by prices in menu shown by the kilo but Waiter brings choice of fish to table & when you pick it they bring weight & price of piece you picked. The seafood rice is great. Dessert was really good too.

Make no mistake, fish and seafood are the specialities here. We had oysters and shared a red snapper. Both were excellent. They weigh the fish and check you're happy with the price before cooking. Our snapper was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful, although service was brisk and occasionally rushed. This is no doubt because... More

We have visited this restuarant more than once and have had varied experiences. On our recent visit two of us haf fish dishes which were enjoyed, as were the large prawns, although these were really expensive. For the non fish eaters the curried chicken which comes served in a pot was really average and is not what you expect of... More

We ate here twice, I'd lobster @ €65. Second time I'd seafood risotto which was in a pot like stew with rice at the end. Really nice too. I think the foods good & perhaps as a couple the staff would be more friendly. I don't think they like children but they get them as so many families holiday in... More

Ate here after previously eating over the last couple of years. Food was very good, just wish there was a bit more of a selection of starter dishes but the covert is worth it. Went in to book a table for 8:30pm however was told could only book at 8...not sure why half an hour would matter. I had the... More

We had the clam and shrimp cataplana. It was good, lots of flavors and nice sauce great for dipping bread... yummy!! The portions are large and if you have room for dessert... share, as it's huge. Very busy in the summer much calmer off season. Lovely restored building worth taking a tour to see the work that was done to... More

We ate at Dom Sebastiao twice and on both occasions my wife was disappointed with her meal whilst I was very happy with mine. I had Kid in Red Wine and Seafood Rice. My wife had the Mixed Kebab on the first visit and neither she or I can remember what she had second time it was so forgettable. The... More
