Lovely meal in pleasant surroundings

Stayed in lagos for a few months and passed this Restaurant just outside town in Odiaxere a number of times, stands out with a Cactus sign on the outside, maybe a little garish so probably put us off. It was only when some friends recommended it that we decided to give it a go. Greeted by Suzie... read more

Our party of 8 all enjoyed the food and hospitality. Suzie looked after us, with varied couverts, including yummy hot mushrooms and onions in batter. The mains of Lamb from the Oven, and Calves Liver were very generous portions, well cooked, and served with a nice selection of potatoes and vegetables It was our first visit, although the others in... I suggest if you are visiting Portugal, seek this place out; you will not be disappointed. I first visited with my partner 15 year ago and proposed to her here a few years later. We have been married for 7 years now and will be travelling to Cacto in May 2015 with our respective families. The food and particularly the... More

What a great restaurant, great food, friendly staff and a warm welcome. Highly recommended!!! I can personally recommend the steaks and the house red wine both of which I really enjoyed. The baked Brie starter that my friends and wife had also looked amazing. The food is also excellent value. All in all well worth a visit and I will... More

I like a previous review don't know why it isn't more highly rated! It's the cosiest, warmest, friendliest restaurant in the algarve! Food is amazing, their Camembert is fabulous. Been a few times and is always consistently good! Sussie out front is a joy and looks after everybody excellently! We spent Christmas day there too and it was sensational, food... More

It was good, but we came to Portugal to avoid typical English Christmas food, andt this is what we got!

Although we have reviewed this restaurant before, we just have to return for yet another fine review. We simply do not understand why it is not more highly rated. If you are looking for traditional Portuguese cuisine – and perhaps on a short first stay one would – then this is not for you. But if you fancy something different,... More

On another visit to Portugal and, as usual, we spent a wonderful night with Sussie & Wim enjoying the fine dining and wines, great welcome and comfortable chairs next to a crackling log fire. Bliss! After a small and delectable 'amuse bouche' of cream of mushroom soup with grated parsnip, two of us had mushrooms with garlic then Thai beef... More

I had visited Cacto a number of years ago on family holidays and returned this year to find it better than ever! Suzie is an incredible host with a remarkable team who make you feel very comfortable. The food is utterly to die for, always a tremendous selection on the menu and the dishes are out of this world! Definitely... More
