Description: Decorated in a charmingly rustic style with hints here and there of the Algarve's nautical past, the O MARINHEIRO Restaurant, at Sesmarias in Albufeira, was founded over a decade ago and since then has enjoyed an excellent reputation throughout the region. The menu comprises a delicious selection of national and international dishes; all prepared using only the freshest seasonal ingredients and includes a children's selection for our younger guests. Our friendly multilingual staff invites you to begin your evening with a drink at our well-stocked bar whilst you browse our menu or make your selection from our specialities of the day.Our "garrafeira" is richly supplied with many good Portuguese wines and the waiters will be more than happy to assist you in choosing the most appropriate to accompany your meal.Adjacent to the main dining area of the restaurant there is a delightful shady garden terrace, an air-conditioned winter-garden and a playground for the children.

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and it still meets a high standard. We were in a villa nearby this year only a 5 min stroll and visits twice in the 10 days. Iberian Pork - Monkfish in olives and fresh fish all superb and the soup and small sailing ship starters also excellent. The price is... More

6 of us ate here tonight on our last night in Albufeira and we really did save the best til last! The fish was fantastic as were the desserts and the steak was one of the best we'd ever had. Highly recommended as only cost slightly more than a much poorer quality restaurant in the old town earlier in the... More

We dined here 5 years ago and revisited this year. We were a little apprehensive about possibly ruining an excellent memory. However, this visit just added another excellent one. Food, service, ambience were every bit as good if not better than before. Menu is varied with great selection of dishes for both fish and meat. Very reasonably priced. Efficient, friendly... More

We own a villa in the Algarve and frequent our favourite restaurants every time we come over. There are only a handful that we recommend to our friends and guests as they can be inconsistent and subject to staff changes. O'Marinheiro is the one we recommend the most as the owners, Joaquim and Monika are always there maintaining the quality... More

We went here three times during our holiday . The food is very good, although portion sizes differ on different nights for the same dishes . We went usually just as the restaurant opened. The staff were always at a large table eating , which made you feel in the way . Obviously staff are entitled to a meal before... More

We liked the look of this place and decided to eat the following evening. What a mistake. We both had a meal with seafood. We were both violently ill during that night, and we also ad our 2 year old granddaughter with us. Luckily she did not have any prawns, as these were the offending items. This spoiled a full... More

The food was really lovely, 3 course meal with drinks for 3 adults and 1 child, its more expensive than most other places we eat but it was our last night meal. The staff were lovely and friendly. We sat outside and it got very windy and cold, was offered blankets.

We visited O Marinheiro about 3 years ago and was very impressed so returned again on our holiday this year. The food was lovely - we both had the peri peri prawns, then the mixed kebab and Portuguese steak (the only other time we've had Portuguese steak was at a different place a few years ago and it put us... My husband and I visited this restaurant during the first week of our holiday after walking past it earlier in that day. Our first experience was good. I had the goat cheese and fig starter, fish of the day (golden bream) and strawberries and white chocolate sauce for dessert. My husband had the tomato soup, monk fish and chocolate mouse.... More

Dear E O, We are very sorry to know that you disliked your second visit at our restaurant that much. However we distance ourselves from your allegation as there can be found other potential causes for your sickness. We understand you only got seriously sick almost 24hours after eating at our restaurant, this leads us to think that it might... More
