Casual, but delicious food, in the hidden gem

Recommended by the staff at the ADC Hotel, this restaurant wouldn't have been found by chance. You have to go down a narrow, dimly lit street, and there's just a small sign outside, and nothing else to indicate there's a restaurant inside. You open the door to a rustic décor, with red checked... read more

This was a restaurant recommended by a very good "foodie" friend, and whilst I should say I think I chose the wrong dish for me in retrospect, I would definitely recommend it for several key reasons: the atmosphere is really good and relaxed, the service is very friendly - and efficient without being "in your face", i.e. there exactly when... What a gem! Cannot believe the value for the $. The most delicious pork I have ever eaten. The best waitor. Delicious meal right in front of the fireplace. We are leaving tomorrow or we would definitely go back. A real gem.

I wen there as a friend recommended. The food was quite bland, I had better typical alentejo dishes in Lisbon than at this place. The prices were not high but the entrées were too expensive. The wines are good but the atmosphere was poor. Very silent and only 4 people, all foreign tourists. For the price you can eat much... More

My hotel recommended Adega do Alentejano so I chose it for my first dinner in Evora. Great choice. Carlos was a friendly and efficient host. He recommended the famous tomato soup. I'm not a big soup guy and think of tomato soup as something to have when you're not feeling well. But the tomato soup at Adega do Alentejano is... More

We had a memorable dinner here. Carlos was extremely honest about the size of the portions and his specialties, so we shared a tomato soup ( but added an extra poached egg!) which was just delicious! And hearty! And then we shared a black pork dish which had the most tender and delicious pork we had ever had! The house... More

The owner was very helpful in advising us on the menu. We had excellent starters and shared the enormous tomato soup and pork with clams both of which were really enjoyable. The wine was straight from the barrel and very good. The atmosphere was good and authentic; a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Friendly welcome and good Presunto from black pigs. Best Sopa de tomate - rustic, bready, oily, home to a hard poached egg, served with salami chunks- absolutely delicious.

This restaurant gives you the local flavor. Our waiter reads from the daily menu written on a chalk board. I tried the tomato soup which I read was a must-try. This soup is a heavy bread soup and is unique to this region. I did not care for it, but was glad that I tried it. There is only one... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and the reviews seemed great. We tried the tomato soup, which was a house specialty and the sea bass. The waiter was helpful in explaining the menu to us. The soup was a tomato base and had a lot of bread in it. It was served with sausage and pork rind on the... More
