Different - quirky owner

Carlos is an unusual host in that he was at pains to prevent us from ordering too much! He said that one and a half portions of his tomato soup dish would be sufficient, and he was just about right! His translations of the menu board for French and English guests kept us amused, he would adopt a... read more

We arrived early in the evening - 7:30 and were shown to a table in front of the wood burning fire. The food (local sheep cheese appetizer, cod and bread soup first couse and black pork for second course) were simple and delicious. The waiter speaks good English and was very helpful - he advised us that each dish was... More

The food was interesting as it was typically from the region, e.g. the traditional tomato soup and the acora dish. The service was quite friendly but the restaurant rather lacking in atmosphere as there were few diners and it was the end of the season.

This restaurant is a little challenging to find, so get your map out early. It is worth the effort, a restaurant with great atmosphere, good service and a splendid array of well cooked Portuguese food. The tomato soup is wonderful, it's not just a soup, but is a main course, to be shared by two. We followed with the black... More

We had the much-mentioned tomato soup, which is indeed very good. Also the local black pork, very good. And some lovely starters - quite superb little good round cheese, as good as any Epoisse

If that is typical, than it is tasteless. Carlos was running from greeting the guests to taking orders, serving and collecting dishes and money. That was a dance worth watching. Had it not been for the lemon to squeeze over the pork dishes, the meat was dry.

Carlos was so busy and very efficient but basically we were told what we would eat and sensibly advised to share the famous tomato soup (which is really a meal) first followed by black pork meal. It was ok but the soup was over laden with soggy bread and the pork was tender but a bit on the dry side.... More

Nice typical family restaurant in the center of Evora. Good food. Friendly service. No wine list but we were offered a bood bottle at a fair price.

Excellent food and wine, in a simple rustique but very nice atmosphere and deco. Staff were very helpful in describing menu and service was perfect. It was such a pleasure on the frist visist on the 14 August at lunchtime, that we visited again on the 29th as well!

We found this in Fodors and decided to head there for dinner. It is known as a local hangout. Very interesting space and we felt like we were definitely in a Portugese restaurant. Our server spoke decent english so that was helpful. Fairly informal restaurant. Families and couples eating and some locals. Our meal was delivered promptly. Our porco preto... More
