Maria is a very nice host that is ready to show you the best food Alentejo has to offer. The place is cozy and original since you seat in a room that looks like an old courtyard full of windows from houses that don't exist. Try everything you can because this is the real food from Alentejo, full of flavours... More

This is the best Alentejo cuisine that I have ever tested. Everything was perfectly cooked, the house wine was of excellent quality and the staff was very nice. This is definitely a must if you ever go to Alentejo. If you don't, Alandroal is worth a visit even if only to eat at A Maria.

Each time we go to Alentejo, we try Maria do Alandroal !! I dont know how many times we have been there , but we never get tird. Its a small restaurent , call first to know availability. But the inside is delicious, it seems a village alley in the middle of 2 houses, with "clothes drying in a rope",... More

This restaurant has built a great reputation but its owners treat every tourist as a potential idiot. This place was recommended via a wine magazine. When we arrived it wasn't too busy mostly Portuguese. As soon as we sat down, three dishes were put on our table, some stale bread and a bottle of water was opened without us asking... More

The best restaurant in the area for typycal Portuguese cuisine (and one of the best in the country). Don´t expect fancy or modern cuisine, but tradicional Portuguese dishes, such as: - coelho desfiado frio (cold rabbit) - pimentos vermelhos grelhados e desfiados (grilled red peppers) - cogumelos (mushrooms) - perdiz (partridge) - borrego assado (roated lamb) - cozido de grão... We had lunch with a group of friends at he restaurant and I can only say that I have never had better tasting food in the whole of Portugal. A fantastic experience. The owner Maria and her helper could not do enough for us and I wish we could go there more often but sadly we live in the north... More

Situated in the quiet and beautiful village of Alandroal, near to Évora, "A Maria" is one of the best restaurant in Portugal. It is not only my opinion. "A Maria" has been considered by many critics as one of the best restaurant. The restaurant is very beatiful, cozy and warm. It is decorated like a terrace surrounded by Alentejos houses.... More
