We waited 30 minutes outside, because the restaurant is in fact a small room with a huge bar and no waiting staff. Just knock at the door, and if you're lucky you will have a seat immediatly, or you wil have to wait in the street. The restaurant isn't easy to find, with limited signs and publicity. The owner does... More

We waited 30 minutes for the best meal we have had in all of Portugal. Domingos is the best host, server and sommelier. The food is to die for! We started with their clams in wine and garlic broth, followed by lamb chops and black pork steak with freshly made potato chips-still hot. He served a thinly sliced tomato and... More

This is where the locals eat. There are only 8-9 seats, so get there when it opens at noon-ish. The menu is in English and the owner is gracious, although his English is limited. The food was home-cooked and delicious. Most of the plates can be split between two people. It is featured in "1001 places to eat before you... More

Tasty wine. Nice food. Cool owner. Correct price. Attention, there are only 9 places available. I personally tried the meat and it was excellent.

Real special being able to eat here. We entered an hour before closing. The owner and his wife cooked us a real nice meal. If you can...this restaurant is a must go. One of the better restaurants i ever visited.

Our local insider tutted when this place featured on the probables list prepared in advance of our trip. Why would it not have been? It's number one in town, draws rave reviews with regularity, and it's the only restaurant in these parts to feature in the worldwide volume 1001 Places To Eat Before You Die, or some such. How do... I can only echo what all have already said. One of the loveliest aspects of this restaurant is that despite the demand, the chef never rushed us. He encouraged a festive feeling to the meal, so that it was easy to chat with our elbow-to-elbow neighbors. Soon almost everyone at the counter were "friends" and the chef insisted on buying... We heard we had to get there early as only 9 seats around a counter. We were #'s 6-7 and we arrived at about 6:25 (it opens at 7 pm). Domingo and his wife (she's the chef and he deals with the customers) are a two person show. We were lucky to have very enjoyable dinner companions to our right... More
