We came here for lunch after a recommendation from our hotel, and we did not regret it. The restaurant looked quite full when we arrived, but the owner moved some people and some chairs and we where seated. We decided what to have for lunch (which is the same as for dinner) and he kept serving the excellent food and... More

With only 10 spots you better be there at 7pm (time it opens), or have a back-up plan! The place is just perfect: small, cozy and oh so nice! The owner loves to talk but be prepared with some Portuguese words (his English is kind of poor), but hey! Maybe you're lucky and find us there next time! I am... More

I dragged a reluctant family down a side street to visit this restaurant. Their faces when we walked in were priceless. 12 stools round a bar! It was busy but we got seats as people were leaving. From the start the owner was fantastic. We fairly much let him decide what we ate and although his English is not great... More

Having read fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor and hearing great recommendations from our hotel about the quality and authenticity of 'Botequim da Mouraria' we were a bit on the excited side. Armed with the knowledge there were only 9 bar seats in the restaurant we waited at 6.30pm for the doors to open at 7pm - we didn't want to... More

Just finished eating here. Got there at 6:55. It opens at 7 and was was immediately full - all 9 seats. The owner serves you at a bar and makes your meals to order in a small nearby kitchen thst yiu can see into. The steak ed the softest I have every had. My partners lamb chops were plentiful and... The food and the service were outstanding. Come for the opening as in our experience only one sitting a night is on hand.

Wow. No idea how they make simple dishes so amazing! Best veal I have ever had. Loved the mushrooms and the ham (he shaved it off the bone leg right in front of us). Wine was perfect. The owner is the nicest man....must have said "obrigado" (thanks) 30 times! Best meal and coolest local vibe!

Small place that seats about 10 people, but....... the quality of food and service is out of this world. For this place there should be a 6 star rating available.

Amazing what culinary treats come out of this tiny kitchen manned only by the owner at first and later with help from his wife. We had an appetizer for 2 of grilled mushrooms and a local white wine, and both chose the Lombinhos de Porco Preto (Black Pork Tenderloin), which we'd been told about and lived up to it's reputation....
