Good Food

We spent a night at the Gnu & booked an evening meal. The food was excellent well cooked & presentation was on a par with any high class restaurant. We would like to congratulate the chef on a job well done & wish him success in the future. Our breakfast was equally as good, cooked exactly how we... read more

Having had a very bad experience in the pub across the road (Tiger Inn) we decided to go to the Gnu Inn. We had a lovely warm welcome from the landlady who was happy to serve us despite us being a little muddy from our hiking. She was pleasant, chatty and we are looking forward to returning there to sample... More

Recently had the pleasure of dining in the gnu inn restaurant and would have no hesitation of recommending it, in fact I already have to my relatives who live in Beverley. It is very rare I sit down and enjoy a meal without thinking something could be improved but the gnu is absolutely the best place I have eaten in... More

Walking a section of the Wolds Way with my brother, we planned to break our journey and satisfy our hunger / slake our thirst at the Gnu Inn. It was a beautiful blue-sky Saturday late lunchtime and we were not disappointed in our choice of stop. We both had the fish and chips (or "line snapper" haddock with rough-cut chips).... More

We stayed here sat week whilst walking the Wolds Way. We expected the usual average pub food, not a bit of it. The chef is new and ex Jamie's in Manchester, the menu is extensive but manageable and the food is just amazing..ranging from the olives to start, through to the Mushroom fricassee to the Chicken and Leek Pie. Im... More

We went on a Saturday evening and it was fairly quiet. A few locals at the bar, large table outside drinking and three other tables of diners. Bar staff friendly and welcoming and a good choice on the menu. Food was quick to arrive and was very good. Only negative was the lack of atmosphere, but would def go back.

Went for a Sunday lunch did wonder why at 1-30 place was empty, now know why. We ordered steak pie which came fairly quickly however it had certainly just come out of microwave, the gravy was jelly like as not warmed through properly. Overall the pie lacked any taste. I had the carvery which was a choice of meats with... More

An attractive pub with welcoming staff. We had lunch there which was excellent pub grub with a very well kept beer cellar. Well recommended for a quick stop for a bite.
