A pub with a fantastic atmosphere. The food is excellent, and this goes with out saying - where there is great food and service, you have to book in advance!!! So don't be disappointed, make a reservation. Nick, the landlord is great: he has a genuine bloke and he will tell you the truth, thats what I love about this... More

Actually we visit The Bell a couple of times during our yearly stay in lovely, peaceful Middleton. First time is always for a first drink of the holiday (Adnams and Aspall's cider - it's a tradition) then later in the week for dinner. We had a very nice supper - starting with calamari, then fish and chips and duck - all went... More

I'd heard great things about Middleton Bell and being local I was excited to try for myself. I can only hope that what we experienced was an 'off day'. The staff were friendly and attentive, but the food and general appearance of the pub (the tired painted wall I sat next to was splattered in good) was disappointing. The food... More

Ate here twice, on Wednesday after turning up at 6.30pm on spec, and on Friday evening having booked a table the day before. Surprised to see people turning up on a Friday evening hoping to get a table at such a good restaurant without having booked. All the menus are on blackboards. One for starters, one for fish dishes, one vegetarian,... More

The Bell Inn is a sheer joy for a meal and having a drink in and set in the delightful Suffolk village of Middleton. The beer (Adams) was very good and obviously the landlord know how to properly look after his beers (just don't expect any expertise related to internet or computers from him!). Our meals were exceptional and well... More

This pub is just about perfect. We had an evening meal with our children and received a friendly (and professional - I think one recent reviewer may be a bit over-sensitive) welcome from the landlord. The menu is excellent. There was a good choice when we visited covering pub staples like gammon/ham/scampi/cod and chips, or sausage and mash, plus others... More

Myself husband and 2 small children visited the Bell recently and yes the landlord is somewhat tactile in his welcome to the whole family including my husband which quite frankly we both found highly amusing and totally non CREEPY I would rather that than a miserable old man that didn't even acknowledge us. Unlike the previous reviewer my husband is... More

George T really missed the point. The landlord is a really friendly man and in no way creepy. This pub is well run, food is good, beer is good, and very welcoming. You will get good value for money here. I recommend it highly.

We came here in a group of 10 for lunch including four children between 2 and 6. We had booked in advance so were expected but even so we were welcomed warmly and service was efficient and reasonably quick given the numbers. It must just about be the most challenging group that you could get!! We just had a simple... More

Found this lovely traditional village pub in a delightful situation off village green on a fine mid-week summer's day!. Warm welcome from landlord in simple but cosy bar serving casked ales as well as all usual drinks and wines. Food served in bar, adjoining rooms and the large garden or outside in entrance yard. Ordered food from daily specials board... More
