A village pub at its very best

Enjoyed a number of evenings at the Bell Inn during a week long stay in the village. On the first visit we had drinks and happened upon a locals 70th birthday celebration. It seemed the whole village had turned out and an evening of singing and music was enjoyed. The second visit we wanted to... read more

We visited The Bell Inn where we enjoyed superb real ale and sat near a log fire in a very warm and convivial atmosphere. Great venue in an attractive village.

Called in for lunch, party of 5, inc 2 kids. First greeting was 'cannot do food now', nice.. Walked in to bar for a drink, locals glaring, landlord told lad of 7 yrs not to come to bar.. Drinks ok, nothing special. Surviving on the 'olde worlde' image and not on its hospitality. Wont go back in a hurry. Better... More

We went to this pub as a extremely worried couple with a very poorly dog at a vet in Ipswich. (Away on holiday and it was Easter Monday!!!) We were given a lovely welcome and as it was so cold outside the log fire was wonderful. So was the food. An excellent choice on the menu and promptly served. It... More

We hadn't visited since last summer but were keen to return and this time visited for an evening meal and as always received a warm welcome and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere. I ordered the fish and chips and received a massive piece of beautiful, fresh fish for a very reasonable price - highly recommended! My partner had an excellent chicken... More

Seven and a half of us went for an early evening celebration meal..and despite pub being pretty busy, we were welcomed, all food courses came together, we were well looked after, and oh, the quality and presentation of the food!..just the best we have ever had. Couldn't fault it at all. All tastes catered for, great atmosphere (the traditional live... More

Even though we live only 30mins. away, we've never visited The Bell before. Today, six of us (plus Coco, our chocolate Lab) had the great pleasure to eat here, we were made extremely welcome in a really warm atmosphere. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our meal together. We certainly will be going back very soon. Thanks for everything. Ray, Bebe & Coco,... More

We called in to have an evening meal and were asked if we had booked, to which came the reply " if youcan come back in about an hour we may be able to fit you in." We walked out even though there were many tables vacant and went elsewhere.

Six of us were staying at a nearby campsite when we made this find. Wnat a little gem in the heart of the countryside. It is a beautiful building in a beautiful village. We were made very welcome by the friendly landlord, who puts his heart and soul into the place which is obvious. The roaring log fire was very... More

Excellent meal at the Bell. Smoked Haddock with horseradish and salmon sauce and a poached egg on top. My husband had the scampi and my aunt the fish and chips. We were so full we could not face a desert but I am sure they would be delicious. Excellent decaffeinated coffee and the beer is Adnams and gravity fed (straight... More
