we had booked an early meal to enable us to allow time for us to get to the Last Post so as the first guests of the evening and speaking no Flemish we could have felt uncomfortable but no, we were welcomed like old friends. We chose the meal of the month which was a three course meal and was... More

Compared to another restaurant on the square this place, a few blocks off the square was less and we got more food. The host was very friendly and the ambience was old world and lovely. The food was good, homey but not exotic, just what we were looking for. It was also more than enough.

We both had rabbit casserole which was a simple satisfying meal. Our host was most obliging and the surroundings traditional warm and friendly. Great ambiance.

On the advice of Veronique owner of b&b hortensia where we were staying (11/7-14/7/14) we managed to get the only table that was not reserved (so if you haven't booked don't let it put you off going there) on Saturday night about 7.45. Our party of 4 adult males chose :3 pork shoulders and one opted for the ham shank.... More

What an amazing find! We were in Ypres in 2012 for Armistice day and came across this restaurant. The owner was friendly and the food was excellent. It was so good that I'm planning a stop over in August just to pop in. Highly recommended.

As everyone else has said this place is really special. Friendly couple running it, rustic charm, excellent food and my husband loved the DeRuyffelaer beer and Grog. Wonderful !!!!

This is the spot for authentic Belgian cuisine in a rustic setting. This family owned restaurant was outstanding in its small cozy atmosphere. We chose a rabbit dish that was extremely tasty. Service was attentive and courteous. We will definitely visit again!

We booked on the basis of other good reviews and were not disappointed. It doesn't take long to walk from the Menin Gate ceremony to here (Ieper is such a small place) and the restaurant was busy, warm and cozy. We were seated at the end of a long table at which another local solo diner was finishing his meal... More

It was described to us as "your Belgian grandmother's cooking". As I don't have a Belgian grandmother, I was looking forward to seeing what it was like. My husband had the pork knuckle and he said it was fantastic. I had the pork shoulder and I know it was fantastic. Really good service and a nice cozy atmosphere. Do yourself... More
