On the advice of Veronique owner of b&b hortensia where we were staying (11/7-14/7/14) we managed to get the only table that was not reserved (so if you haven't booked don't let it put you off going there) on Saturday night about 7.45. Our party of 4 adult males chose :3 pork shoulders and one opted for the ham shank.... More

What an amazing find! We were in Ypres in 2012 for Armistice day and came across this restaurant. The owner was friendly and the food was excellent. It was so good that I'm planning a stop over in August just to pop in. Highly recommended.

As everyone else has said this place is really special. Friendly couple running it, rustic charm, excellent food and my husband loved the DeRuyffelaer beer and Grog. Wonderful !!!!

This is the spot for authentic Belgian cuisine in a rustic setting. This family owned restaurant was outstanding in its small cozy atmosphere. We chose a rabbit dish that was extremely tasty. Service was attentive and courteous. We will definitely visit again!

We booked on the basis of other good reviews and were not disappointed. It doesn't take long to walk from the Menin Gate ceremony to here (Ieper is such a small place) and the restaurant was busy, warm and cozy. We were seated at the end of a long table at which another local solo diner was finishing his meal... More

It was described to us as "your Belgian grandmother's cooking". As I don't have a Belgian grandmother, I was looking forward to seeing what it was like. My husband had the pork knuckle and he said it was fantastic. I had the pork shoulder and I know it was fantastic. Really good service and a nice cozy atmosphere. Do yourself... More

We were in Ypres for the weekend and noticed this was a traditional Belgian fare Resto so gave it a go. The food is really very good, lots of warm stew variations but after a brief Last Post ceremony in biting wind it was ideal. Our Host was attentive, efficient and friendly and the rabbit was delicious, even my War... More

We visited this restaurant after reading the reviews and were not disappointed. We booked by email a fee days before because we wanted to go to the Menim gate at 8pm and wanted to be sure of somewhere to eat. Easy to find about a 10-15 minute walk from the gate. The atmosphere was lovely - cosy and welcoming with... More

Delicious food. We had the country pate and smoked trout for starters; and the rabbit in a beer sauce and the beef stew for the main course. All very good. We drank the Trappist bruin beer. Great service, very friendly, good atmosphere.
