Classical must do at the coast

Classical Belgian dishes one must have when at the coast. When in season the Sole Meunière is a must try if you like pan seared fish. The salmon is a nice alternative for fish lovers as well and for those who like a decent cut of meat a must try is the Côte à l'Os. We had a matching French... read more

Classic venue where the huge terrace fills quickly and locals and visitors queue out the door . Menu is the same for the inside brasserie and terrace and is full of Belgian staples. Food was decent quality but the service is variable . Waiters get easily distracted when their regular clients appear and it is easy to get forgotten .... More

Location is perfect. Overlooking the sea and the promenade. It has a covered outdoor seating with gas heaters. We were welcomed properly and assisted to our table. It has a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Very good service and he saw to it that we had everything. Food was very good both seafood and... More

Perfectly located at the seaside promenade protected from the wind with a (heated) terrace, this restaurants offers high quality Belgian brasserie food (especially the "filet américain = steak tartare is highly recommended). Food is great, but does not come cheap. Service is professional, but waiters can have tendancy to be rather rude towards non-locals.... a bit Parisian style in the... More

nice location, inside decor is pretty and cozy, the covered terrace is too busy and noise, tables too close of each other, the personnel running all the time, doesn't give a relax place when you walk in they will really run over you to quickly pass with a tray, not waiting that the customer go and find a table food... After a long walk or after a rainy day, finding some culinary pleasures with typical Belgian dishes is great at Rubens. The food is traditional, tasteful and fresh. The recommended red house wine, cooled, was just what we needed for a fish and a meat dish. Especially the croquettes of shrimps were delicious! The service came with a smile and... More

A marvelous (big) covered and warmed terrace in winter, an open terrace (roof can be opened by sunny weather) in summer and a view on the North Sea gives a special "holiday atmosphere". But no reservations are allowed on the terrace and it's often crowded, unless you arrive early (at noon for lunch for example). If you want to book... More

Three of us paid 160 euros for 2 courses each - one main course was only omelette and chips (the other mains were chicken and chips and cod). it was quite expensive for average food. Helpful and polite waiters though

This place is well positioned if you have children, being just in front of the Rubensplein kids can play around on an almost traffic-free zone. Because is very popular prepare to wait 20 to 40 minutes to have a seat, crowded and noisy, look somewhere else if you appreciate quietness. Food is not bad but is not great either: quite... More

We were a party of 5. 3 of us were served 10 minutes after the first dishes arrived, Fries arrievd after the steak was finished. Not an excuse. Fries were charged on the bill. Thue usual shrimp croquettes were fine, the bouillabaise was plane, overpriced. Will defintely not return.
