Great restaurant! Very friendly service and children are very welcome: with a good quality child menu (veg soup & dover sole filets with fries, mash or rice and an ice-cream that the child can pick out in the kitchen). The fish soup (bouillabaisse) is just unbelievably good and contains a large number of nice pieces of fresh fish. Though a... More

On the beach but without good outdoor seating area. Food was average minus and waiter was abrupt, telling me what I wanted to eat. Dinner came with potato/rice and no option for substitution with vegetable or salad. When my husband pointed out that he was getting risotto with squid (not very good and not prepared as risotto), he was told... More

This was recommended by our hotel, but I still don't know why. It took a long time to get attention of the waiter, who eventually told us to sit at the dirty table which he eventually proceeded to clean. Not a great start. Then the food - I don't remember such greasy meal for a long time. It's not about... More

We have been going to Le chevalier for over nearly + 30 years. It is still a familiy run restaurant where the Lady of the house is the Chef and the man is running the restaurant. We have not yet encountered a better place to eat. It is great value for money and excellent food !

Plenty of restaurants compete for attention on the sea front at Ostend, but I can heartily recommend Le Chevalier. The food is tasty and beautifully presented, the staff are friendly and helpful (they speak fluent English) and the ambience is pleasantly relaxed. Add the view of the bay, and what more could you want? Just one word of warning: pace... More

We had the fixed price menu as a group of 9 people. We didn't book, just came in off the promenade, but were greeted as very welcome guests. We were recommended the fixed price menu at 30 euros, one of the cheaper prices along the promenade and were delighted with it. As soon as they recognised that we were british... More

The palce is on the promenade so next to the sea. We were expecting high prices but finally not compared to the quantity and quality. In fact, the evening you can take the 27€ diner menu with a soup /starter / main course/ desert. It's vrey good and the staff is very nice. Special mention to the shrimp cheese corquettes.... More
