Minimalist dining room with picture window looking out over the impressive kitchen garden, Food was tasty and interesting. We took the 6-course menu. I didn't like all the dishes - in fact I didn't eat one of them, but that was ok because my partner ate my course as well as his - i didn't like the mixture of seafood,... More

Unbelievably good, if not rather expensive. Simple minimalist surroundings with the garden centre stage. The food was similar, super fresh, well conceived and precise. Service was friendly, non-invasive and well-paced

I have been following Geert and Jochim since their fairly humble beginnings so it is great to see them emerge from blushing débutants, to fully fledged divas in their gorgeous new surroundings in the Belgian polders. Visitors to Belgium - if you want a gastronomic tour of what our country has to offer, you MUST include the latest 3* Michelin.... More

If you like vegetables, and food that is still recognizable in your plate, this is a great place. We were amazed by the diversity and subtlety of tastes and colors. We rediscovered basic things that suddenly became tremendous. We really wondered what this restaurant serves during the winter, when their garden cannot provide the fullness of what we tasted. Service... More

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication!" The food, the decor as well as the service have lived up to this motto during our stay.

Great what these guys deliver! Lot's of respect making such an investment, the food is absolutely delicious, the vegetables taste like they should, flavors like you never tasted. They are original and gutsy. The wine list doesn't contains the usual suspects with all the pricy, big bordeaux's but is fresh, new and very good. Great job guys!

Although very expensive, this restaurant is really worth a trip. All dishes are based on fresh seasonal products from their own garden. They grow over 60 kinds of small tomatoes and every dish is a symphony of flavors and a delight to the eyes. The waiters are very friendly, the sommelier could have been a bit more enthusiastic and we never... More

Not that i'm doing every day a michelin star restaurant, but I visited about 10 other places with 1, 2 and 3 star rating. Hertog-jan is the youngest 3 star owner in belgium, and he certainly deserves the 3 stars. I had the great opportunity to being threatened in full luxury in 2013 at a table at the window next... We went with four people for lunch in one of the last weeks before Hertog Jan closed down on the old location (they will re-open on a new location August 2014). The overall experience was impressive: food, service, staff and seats with views over the open kitchen. We had a three course lunch menu and added the cheese and wine... More
