We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Cordoeanier and we found this on our second night, just around the corner, by the canal, near the statue of Jan van Eyke. It is small pretty, cosy, and serves excellent local food by attentive good humoured staff. I can personally recommend the beef Flemish stew and, my favourite, Eels in green sauce! They... More

Dear Jenandave Thank you very much for your review! Yes our eel in green sauce (spinach and fresh garden herbs) served with salad and fries is one of the specialities of the house, But not everyone is keen on eel, its a very healthy and low fat fish. Hope to see you again ! Dimitri Vanhaecke Bistro de schilder More

We visit Brugge fairly regularly and this little family run place is fast becoming a lunchtime favourite of ours. Warm and cosy inside or a nice seating area overlooking the canal outside if the weather is kind. We've only ever had lunch here but all the food we've seen and eaten has looked and tasted excellent and is freshly prepared... More

We didn’t have a reservation, but sought this place out on the basis of its good reviews. We were in luck. They had a table, which showed “reserved” but the sign was whisked away, and the 4 of us were seated and given menus. I wondered whether there was a degree of customer vetting going on here, because a couple... More

Dear Siandmon In our restaurant there is absolutely no customer vetting going on. You and your friends had just a perfect timing to come in our restaurant when a table was just free, The others we would also been happy to accept but there were no more free tables. Asparagus are now in season so we put it on the... More

We stopped in for lunch on a cold snowy day and ended up having our main meal of the day. Sat by the gas fire and settled in for flemish stew and rabbit; both outstanding. Excellent service and another great opportunity to try out some different Belgian beers which had been paired with the meals. Highly recommended.

Get there early as it soon fills up, very cozy and homely restaurant serving great food. Service is at a nice pace so your not waiting or feeling rushed, recommend the mussels and the steak.

Stumbled on this place because next door was full, went early and just as well because it soon filled up. I had the mussels and my wife had a steak, both of which were excellent. Service was fast and friendly and the prices were not too bad, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

We booked as recommended so as not to miss out on a table. We were about 15 minutes early, which was not a problem and were seated straight away. We ordered a bottle of house Rose, which was light and pleasant. As also recommended we both had the Flemish stew served with salad and fries. The beef was so tender... More

We found this place by chance, and were lucky to get a table as later in the evening others were being turned away. My wife had Pumpkin Soup to start, followed by Mussels (there is a good choice of sauces to accompany them- she chose Herbs with tomatoes) I went for Flemish Stew - excellent choice. Both served with Fries.... More

The food and beer were outstanding. We each ordered off the house-specialty menu, coq au vin and a flemish beef dish. They were lovely meals. Our server was very kind and the atmosphere was very warm and cozy on a cold winter night. we would highly recommend for a special evening out, or just a fantastic dinner.

We had the rabbit stew and the shrimp and tomato salad. Both were quite excellent and the shrimp salad was a welcome reprieve from many of the heavier Flemish dishes. A little pricey, but in line with the rest of Bruges.
