This is an excellent lunch stop. Used by locals and great value for money. Unusually for Bruges when you ask for water they offer you tap water!!!! and don't look pained as though you had asked for something illicit. Remember when you got those same looks in the UK?? Definitely a little place to remember.

Modest from outside but food and service superb

Off the beaten track but highly recommended to us by father and daughter staying in our hotel (who had eaten there and been recommended themselves). Set menu of homemade vegetable soup followed by a choice of steak, vegetarian quiche, bouillabaisse (fish stew) or Flemish stewery (beef stew). All... read more

All accompanied with fries and plenty of salad. The room is gorgeous, hosts friendly and food lovely, inexpensive, extremely generous. Could not fault this restaurant. It is a must-visit for any traveller.

We were in Bruges for only two days, did not know the city at all, but we wanted a decent honest evening meal even if we had to walk a mile. From the city centre we walked in a random direction, stopping and sniffing at various establishments, and getting increasingly lost ... and once you leave the centre, eating places... More

We found this little restaurant on a previous visit to Bruges and went back for lunch. If one is going out for a formal meal in the evening it is VERY hard to find a decent place for a simple lunch. And this did not fit the bill as soup followed by boeuf bourgoine or a Brazilian dish of black... More

The owner of our b&b suggested us this restaurant. It was defenetely a good suggestion. The restaurant is small nice and clean, we preferred the 1st floor. It was just out of the crowded center of the city. It is really quite and people working there are really gentle. The menu list is short butyou can find for sure something... More

We had dinner here on the advice of our lovely B&B host (Anna's B&B next door). We had the set menu deluxe...aperitif + soup of the day+ main from a choice of 4-5 mains + dessert ( get what you're given !)& coffee + large glass of wine ......all for a very economical €32. The food was simple, uncomplicated but... More

This was recommended by our hotelier and was not found wanting... In response to the works canteen review, firstly, there are seats upstairs and it was busy! It is very much off the beaten track and favoured by locals. The "15 year old" was charming and helpful. He also spoke great English. Anyway, we chose the steak, which turned out... More

Just back at our hotel after dinner at Sint Barbe, and have to review immediately. We went there tonight on a Lonely Planet recommendation and are ecstatic about what we experienced. About ten minutes' walk from the Markt, Sint Barbe is in on the edge of a churchyard in a quiet and residential street in Bruges. It was great to... More

If you're on a budget and seeking stomach filling quantity, then I can see the appeal of Sint-Barbe. It is cheap and plentiful, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The food tastes like own-brand supermarket staples, such as the vegetable soup and light brown bread we had, with very little culinary skills being put in place. The... More

This is a small and cute restaurant out of the touristy path. It's fairly priced for Bruges and the portions are quite big. Quality and quantity. The service is a bit slow but that's the only drawback. The beer list is poor ( just 3 beers). Remember that the restaurants in Bruges are super-expensive!!!
