Charming, lovely, quirky!

If you're looking for a just-off-the-beaten-path resto, a stone's throw from the city center (but far enough to escape tourist hell), this one's for you. This is a small, atmospheric, family run restaurant that serves authentic Belgian food in a non-touristy part of town. We reserved a week ahead of time for a Saturday night in April and so glad we did. The waitress could not have been nicer, the portions are large and can be split/shared. The food we had was very tasty (nothing... More

Small and cosy place that is family-run. Had a typical Belgian meal as a vegetarian and we tried a Belgian gin. My partner had a non-vegetarian Belgian meal that was the pre-fixe offering which was tasty and not too expensive. The portions are enormous, so if you are a light eater as I am, do go for the smaller portion.... More

I'd planned a "special" weekend and went through the list of restaurants in Bruges - a lot of things drew me to pro Deo and I was not disappointed. When I booked by email I told Nathalie that it was my (now) fiancée's birthday - she provided us a lovely dessert (with a massive sparkler...!) and was really friendly throughout... More

I usually have good luck with trip advisor recommendations but not this time. We reserved a table for 7:30 and were promptly seated outside. Not my first choice but was told the hotel requested outside seating. Ok. Bad choice. The metal chairs were so uncomfortable, the truck and motor bike noise, and the flies in the food! Next, the service.... More

What a gem! When we travel, we always try to eat the local specialities at a "local" restaurant. We succeeded with Pro Deo. It is not in the center of things in Bruges but worth the walk. It is a small, quirky, comfortable restaurant with lovely service. We ate Stoofvlees - beef stew cooked in beer and would have enjoyed... More

We more or less fall into Pro Deo being so close to where we were staying. An excellent location and near the windmills and lace centre. The food was a selection of traditional dishes. We had moule, of course, and the best frite in Brugge! The owner was very friendly and gave us an account of the Brugge Zot and... More

This was a great Belgian meal. Went with another couple and we all enjoyed our meals. Mussels were on special that day and I highly recommend if you go.

I would book a table for this small & quaint restaurant which has minimal space. our evening was made extra special by the service provided by Nathalie. A couple of us went for the Classic Belgian menu which provided a uniquely tasting Flemish stew. She also managed to cope with my Mum's gluten free requirements although as usual that did... More

A perfect place for a meal. This restaurant is tiny and pre booking your table is a must and worth the effort. The most relaxing place to have an evening meal, so pleased we booked this before we left home.
