Near Lace Center and Potterie

500 yrs old and going strong! The admissions person recommended it at the Lace Center saying only it served good food at a fair price. Well, yes but it's been a pub continuously for 500 years, has a very friendly staff and the pub dog...well I guess the dog is like the "mayor" of the place... read more

We had read that it was the oldest pub in Bruges, so we had to give it a try. It was a very warm and inviting place. The establishment even had a pup that would go from table to table for a pat on the head. We had a wonderful meal of Italian food. Yes, they served really good Italian... More

This is the oldest bar in Bruges and its pretty cool. It looks pretty bar like inside- a standard round wooden room- and it gets pretty crowded in the evenings. But they do have an outdoor space and a huge garden as well and I went to sit there. the servers speak some english, which is nice and they are... More

Found this 500 year old pub on a small side street in Bruge away form the tourist areas. We all had soup of the day and bread for lunch and it was delicious. Beer was good too and the atmosphere was worth the trip. Very old and a neat find.

Cafe Vlissinghe is officially Bruges oldest pub with exactly 5 centuries of serving food and drink - that alone should be enough to pay it a visit. The interior has a old school atmosphere, and charming character, meeting expectations. The outdoor beer garden is beautifully kept (was ideal with the sunny weather). The food were tasty that are hearty and... More

There is no question that this Tavern has lots of atmosphere and history. But the food, value and service are perhaps not up to the expectations of many customers. My wife and I had a light lunch on the first day of our trip through Belgium and France. My wife opted for a seafood soup which she found good tasting,... More

Went here on recommendation in Rick Steeves book. We felt lucky to get a table at this pub - they were busy, we were hungry. All the ingredients for a fine experience. However - they never offered to serve us. It made me wonder if this was some cultural aspect of Belgian pubs I was not aware of - is... More

Cafe vlissinghe is celebrating 500 years of existence this year. Standing the test of time, this is what it means, I suppose. The cafe is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. But on the other days it's open from 11AM. They also have a nice beer garden at the back, for those warm summer days. They have a decent selection... More

We happened upon Herberg Vlissinghe completely by accident and unaware of its rich history. The place has a charming atmosphere -- some historic buildings can be austere. The lighting is warm, as are the staff and patrons. It's easy to strike up a conversation in such an inviting place. Food is simple but tasty, as are the many Belgian beers... More
