Get a Taste of Medeival History in a 500 Year Old Pub!

Cafe vlissinghe is celebrating 500 years of existence this year. Standing the test of time, this is what it means, I suppose. The cafe is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. But on the other days it's open from 11AM. They also have a nice beer garden at the back, for those warm summer days. They... read more

We happened upon Herberg Vlissinghe completely by accident and unaware of its rich history. The place has a charming atmosphere -- some historic buildings can be austere. The lighting is warm, as are the staff and patrons. It's easy to strike up a conversation in such an inviting place. Food is simple but tasty, as are the many Belgian beers... More

Built in 1515, Café Vlissinghe is the the oldest pub in Brugge, Vlissinghe is a must stop for the beer lovers...like me. They have a good selection of beers to choose from. But its the surroundings of the café that really make the experience. Old cornices and fittings really take you back in time.

We were recommended a visit here for the decor - which is great and atmospheric old Bruges. The selection of beer is good and reasonable prices. It is a small pub so you may struggle to find a seat but it's worth dropping in for a drink just to take in the atmosphere. Food is ok but not inexpensive... I... More

If you appreciate authenticity this is the truest place on earth to enjoy an honest meal and a fantastic house brew Vlissinghe. Dating from 1515 Herberg Vlissinghe is now officially 500 years old. It is still frequented by locals, where they enjoy their drinks and table games together; among those of us that are enjoying well prepared meals that are... More

this place is hidden away in a side street but offers massive character. It is a local gem and is well worth the walk from the square. The beer garden is beautiful. To be honest it felt like we sat in someone's front room, it was so comfortable and homely.

This is an OLD place (like 500 years old!!) and they have awesome beer, a coal burning stove and cozy tables and chairs in a small pub- what more could you want! Stop here for a drink or three.

Not often you have a drink a 500 year old pub, and especially not one this good. First time I've eaten here and the food is delicious, especially the Cheese and Ham Toastie served with a Bolognaise sauce (delicious).

Lovely cosy tavern which first opened its doors on 1515. Mainly locals; it's out of the main part of town and doesn't seem to have been discovered by tourists. We called in to warm up after doing the walk past St Anne Windmills (which is again, a surprisingly in-touristy walk) Staff lovely including the resident Jack Russell who I wanted... More

We had earmarked Vlissinghe as a place to visit and we were delighted to find that it exceeded our expectations. A little pub which is 500 years old this year! It was busy, but service was prompt and we both had their fantastic vissoep (fish soup) and house beer, both of which were delicious. The atmosphere was lively and friendly... More
