We were recommended the restaurant through a friend and was told to book. It was lovely place, seemed family run and was great food. Very traditional and such a lovely find.

We booked for Sunday lunch, and were surprised to find that we were among only a handful of 'tourists' in the packed restaurant. Given the proximity to the main square in Brugge, one can only assume the locals also hold this restaurant in high esteem. In spite of the restaurant being very busy, we found the service very attentive, with... More

You have to reserve! As a family of 6 we were delighted with our lunch....dover soles, pork cheeks and scampi pasta followed by bavarois, tiramisu and tarte tatin. A small family run restaurant with very pleasant atmosphere and staff.... I will be recommending to all my family and friends. Situated around 100mt from the main square. Estimate 50 euro a... More

As others have said, this is a fantastic place, and booking is essential. Do not be concerned by the proximity to the market square, this is a long standing establishment. The food we ate was superb, particularly the pork cheeks which I enjoyed. My wife very much enjoyed the chicken pie. We were both very full after a starter and... More

I'm not kidding: this is the best restaurant in Bruges. You will absolutely NOT get in without a reservation, and you are NOT going to want to miss this place. If you want to impress your friends, girlfriend, spouse, call and make a reservation then surprise them with it that night. There will very likely be a sign on the... More

We enjoyed an excellent meal here. The hare pate (free on the house) was not something we would normally have ordered but was very tasty. So too was the tomato soup, the chicken pie and the lamb stew. We were too full for dessert but ordered tea and coffee which were served with delightful miniature eclairs. Great atmosphere and very... More

We've been to Bruges a number of times and always seem to eat pretty well (the key is to avoid the tourist traps!). Our meal on Saturday night was right up there with the best I've had, the restaurant is welcoming and cosy, the menu has lots of seasonal game dishes and some really interesting starters and mains. The civet... More

We're a family of 4 with 2 university age kids and have been lucky to have travelled extensively and eaten in enough restaurants to have four opinionated diners. We all agreed that Bistro Den Huzaar was perfect. Service was paced to what we wanted - the most relaxed lunch we have had for a long time. Menu has something for... More

I booked this in advance to ensure we had somewhere good to eat on our first evening - and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and had a traditional feel, and the food was very tasty. I had pig cheeks in a really rich and dark gravy and a pastry crust accompanied by local beer -...
