There are several restaurants in this area. I happened to chose this cafe. A clear mistake. It's a poor tourist trap, overly priced and sorry food. I should have gone to the excellent bar just opposite instead.

And the omelettes were not that great. Service was gruff and I did not feel I could sit an relax after I'd eaten even though most of the tables were empty. Great location on the square so I guess they feel they don't have to try. What a shame!

All of the cafes and restaurants in Bruges seemed to be expensive and not that great. This one looked out onto the square. Our waiter was OK, but nothing special. The same could be said for our food... simply ordinary - and expensive

Soup was barely warm and the cheese wouldn't melt. Mussels were small, 1 out of 4 were cracked - there must be no care when they are cooking it. Best thing was my pint of beer. Overpriced. Wish we read the reviews too

With a hungry, tired family in tow, we stopped in to Le Grand Cafe Belfort looking for something to eat upon our arrival in Bruges. Wished we had tried another of the cafes in Markt Square. Waiter was as many others have mentioned....grumpy, surly, arrogant, attitude. Food was just "ok". Best thing we had was the Leffe. Avoid this if... More

After a long day stopped at this restaurant on the main Square in Brugge.Great setting average food and service. I had rabbit which was just OK.Others had good quality omelettes and a fish plate. Service was slow and food unremarkable and pricey. My Belgian beer was excellent.I'm sure with more effort and no time constraints we could have done much better.

Almost a typical French caricature waiter served us.(I know it's Belgium, but he did have a French accent!) Grumpy face, shrug of the shoulders when asked a question, muttering as he turned his back, almost throwing the drinks and plate on the table! Not a glimmer of a smile of any kind. Still it was a nice sunny, warm morning... More

Went for dinner, the place was almost empty. Asked for the catalogue having in mind to take the lunch menu. Five minutes later, the waiter came and announced to us that the menu would not be available because it was late...that was not the case though 5 minutes before when we sat down. Got our coats and left. Judging from... More

We visit the restaurant for lunch, the food was mediocre and the customer service terrible. We had to ask for things multiple times and both waiters were rude. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also it had a "certificate of excellence" from tripadvisor despite the website rating being 1.5/5.

As others have also said, service is very average and other than the view there is not a lot going fo this place. we sat outside in the sunshine and admired the view had a snack and a couple of drinks so not much to get wrong really. There was noting that bad or outstanding about the place to comment... More
