Lovely Food

You can pay a lot for not a lot in Brugge. We came here speculatively after a day at the Brugge Beer Festival on 07/02/2015. We were recommended Bistro de Schaar by our hotel and could not be happier with the recommendation. The atmosphere felt right as we walked through the door. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table. Bistro de Schaar is not a big restaurant and that is part of its charm....everything feels as though you are being cared for personally.... More

I don't normally leave a review, but the meal my wife and I had last night was simply fantastic, best restaurant in Bruges.

On recommendation from our hotel Jan Britto we went to De Schaar. An excellent steak house, really worth the visit. The house wine was very good too, only the dessert of Chocolate Mouse looked a bit awkward...

A very nice and cosy place! Nice staff as well. The food was alright but not splendid, especially the meat. The portions were huge! The dessert, Dame blanche, was great!

Honestly, some of the best food that we have ever had the pleasure of sampling. Charismatic and warm interior but found the waitress service a little on the frosty side.

We visited the restaurant with friends and sat just inside the door to the right. The restaurant is not large but happily the number of tables is right for the space available. New to us was he fact that the Chef, Nico, cooked the meats and fish at what I can only describe as a very posh indoor built in... More

Was recommended by our hotel and the food didn't disappoint. The menu was varied and the food was cooked to perfection. All three courses took a while to come as there was only one server upstairs serving about 14 tables. This shouldn't detract from the quality of the food and would not stop me from returning.

We visited as a family for a surprise Birthday for our Son. He was in Bruges for the weekend with his girlfriend to celebrate a significant milestone, and we rocked up as a surprise. The owners of the restaurant were wonderful, and joined in the fun, enjoying the surprise along with us. We'd brought a home make cake and they... More

My boyfriend and I made a last minute reservation for dinner on Saturday at De Schaar. De Schaar is situated in an 'unknown' corner of Bruges, a little distance from the typical touristic places. We were seated upstairs, in a very cosy environment. Service was swift and waitresses very friendly. For starters we had the fishsoup (best soup I've had... More
