Sometimes it pays to choose the most expensive item on the menu and in this instance it did. Far from ridiculous - given the favourable exchange rate - we had truly memorable steaks at about £15 per head(with enough left over for a sizeable doggy bag!) including a large salad and fries. Service excellent with steak we couldn`t initially cope... More

We had dinner here on our second night in Ghent and were certainly not disappointed to have chosen it! The food was beautifully cooked, perfect steaks for all of us, and the starters and desserts were also a delight. Service was extremely good, very friendly and attentive without interrupting us too much. Situated in the Centre, just around the corner... More

As far as Price/Quality ratio goes, few can beat Du Progres! I am very happy to send friends and family who visit us in Ghent to this charming Brasserie. :) It is centrally located. There is always a selection of traditional Belgian dishes like stooflees and waterzooi on the menu, plus a whole lot of other dishes to ensure that... More

This restaurant was recommended by a the reception clerk at our hotel on out first visit to Gent. We turned up without a reservation but, even though the place was busy, we were seated within a couple of minutes. We both had steaks, which were cooked to perfection. The wine was good, not particularly expensive, and the service impeccable.

We thought this restaurant offered good, pretty straightforward food (chicken, a variety of steaks, fries, some regional dishes) for a reasonable price. The food was well prepared, served quickly, with care and with a smile. I ordered a side dish of vegetables and these were fresh, varied and cooked to perfection. All in all a very pleasant experience!

Popped in for a lazy lunch during a day out in Gent. Was busy but first sunny day of the year so quite a few people were braving the alfresco experience... We opted for the indoor (warm) option. Asparagus season is in full swing, so we both had that as a starter. Pretty good, I must say. Mrs. Fisher went... More

The title says it all, never mediocre never very good. I suppose a resturant trying to attract people in the doors in such a busy square has a problem. Too many through the doors not enough hours in a day to prepare. The beef carpaccio was average as was the spag bog. Good service though. Would I return yes, but... More

We visited Ghent for the Easter weekend and booked a couple of restaurants in advance. So glad we did! The couple who walked in ahead of us were turned away as it was fully booked all evening. The food was superb - not cheap but still great value. The Rumsteak 'James Bond' was perfectly cooked medium rare and full of... More

Beautiful and pleasant place, good food (beef and fries, pasta). Staff is very polite and friendly. It might be difficult to get a table for dinner, even during the weekdays, so try to reserve a table or arrive early.
