Only stayed one night in Gent and picked this restaurant from tripAdvisor reviews, we were not disappointed. All staff friendly and helpful but a special thanks to our waiter Jorgen who looked after us and made our evening special , we sampled local food and the best steak we have had for a long time , local beer and wine... This restaurant was actually third on my list for our first night out in Ghent but for one reason or another ended up going there. From the onset the place impressed me. It's right in the heart of one of the main squares with lots of competition around but on entering I felt we had picked the right one. It... More

Have been to du progress on more than one occassion and have sampled a variety of there dishes, i have had the fillet steak, filleted t. Bone and chateau brand all of which have been of the finest quality. The wine is also very resonable. For a starter cheese croquettes, main steak and wine and coffee it was roughly 30... More

Although I live in Ghent, I had never been to Du Progrès until tonight. Neither was I aware of their very high ranking on TA. I do understand why they deserve this ranking though: the service is friendly, dinner is served quickly, the ingredients are of good quality, food tastes genuinely good. I couldn't mention anything negative. I had sole... More

We ate here on Friday night, most of us had steaks of various descriptions all were a really good size well cooked and very tasty. The sauce on the steaks was also delicious. The service was friendly and prompt and we thought the meal was great value. The atmosphere inside was nice, we were going to sit outside but the... More

De Progress is a nice place at one of the main squares in Ghent. It looks nice from the inside, has a good menu. I had the Steak James Bond, it's with a special pepper sauce. Loved it. Staff wasn't that friendly... Sadly.

We sat outside (bit hot inside) and had a lovely steak with sauce, no fatty bits with nothing left on my plate! Definitely recommend this place, busy but worth it. I booked online beforehand and so maybe do that, especially at weekends and when the Ghent Festival is on!

Amazing tartar (it was also my first one). Very good flavours, the fries was also good and the salad was fresh and beautifully composed. Amazing lunch on a rainy day! Oh, and the soup was free! On a rainy day, a mushrooms soup on a place like this, it was perfect.

We visited this restaurant at one of the rainy august day. We were 4 adults and one child. Each if us has eaten very tasty and fresh made meal. The waiters are very helpful and nice. A dessert was absolutely wonderful - chocolate mousse with whipped cream is a thing you MUST try!
