Well, this is unusual - a good restaurant on the main square. I highly recommend Du Progres, but you do have to book. It's good hearty fare and reasonably priced.

Had family lunch, this place is worth its high rating! Try beef carpaccio and Flemish stew - excellent!

Amazing food and wonderful atmosphere! Little pricey but so worth the money just to experience it. Steak ala James Bond was the highlight of our dinner! Cooked to perfection! If you have not tried it yet, what are you waiting for?

Visit this restaurant with two colleges. It was a last minute decision and TripAdvisor lead us to Du Progress. It was number 4 on the list in Gent (in the price class we were looking at). To be honest, the starters, little bites etc were (very) good. Loved the salmon starter. The meat main course was not what I would... More

A real landmark in Ghent. Classic family owned restaurant. Best daily specials ever. Authentic Belgian cuisine for a reasonable price. Staf is very friendly & helpful. Visited by locals as well as tourists.

Wouldn't normally chose a restaurant that looked so touristy from the outside but this was a very pleasant surprise. Real mix of locals and tourists. Food was good but not great but still good value. Service was really excellent, friendly and everyone seemed to speak at least three languages. Loved the atmosphere and would go back any time.

A busy restaurant which is popular with Belgian people & tourists alike. It is almost always necessary to book a table in advance. There is always a selection of traditional Belgian dishes on the menu plus a large number of international style dishes so there is something for everyone. The staff are friendly & helpful.

Friendly and fast service! Food was good but not extraordinary. If u would be in the neighborhood I would go back there! We went there Tuesdays and it was pretty crowded, so booking is necessary.

Shortly visited Gent, took a tip from Tripadvisor, and were satisfied-busy, but friendly restaurant, calm keeping staff, good atmosphere. Soup included, steak almost perfect with vegetables and french fries, créme brülé...marvellous. Fully recommend.
