Surprise menu

We visited this restaurant with some business colleagues. The surprise menu was recommended to us and we went with that. The four courses were all pretty good, if not spectacular, although my best memory was the Orval trappiste beer we drank with the starters. One of my colleagues went for a wagyu... read more

Walked in general direction of centre from my hotel to find a restaurant, and I walked past Faim Fatal, which was mentioned in Tripadvisor and my hotel guide as a reasonable choice. Not finding anything else nearby I went in to try. As it was Tuesday, it was very quiet. The waiter had to laugh when I asked which table,... More

We arrived without a reservation but got a table (I think we were lucky on a Friday evening) and chose the 'mystery menu' with accompanying wines. The service was first class and food superb; four courses, each one beautifully produced and presented with a wine that complemented it very well. I was rather surprised that all the wines were white... More

The good reviews on Tripadvisor and de location (near our hotel) were our reasons to make a reservation at Faim Fatale. During the day, we walked in to the restaurant. From the kitchen a man came walking into the hallway. While he, mumbling into his cell phone, came towards us, he asked in a most unfriendly way, what we wanted.... More

We had an idyllic 'surprise' four course menu here which was stunning - the outdoor seating area was stylishly planted and a joy to sit in, the waiter and waitress charming and so helpful, and the rood was top notch - quite a find.

Arrived to a stylish restaurant and really liked the decor. We had booked over internet from UK and we received a prompt reply. First and I know many would say ..learn the language but most of Gent cafe's and restaurants didn't have the menu in English so we struggled with all the food and the same in this restaurant. I... I didn't know what to expect as I was invited here by my neighbours. But I was disappointed. The kitchen has no inspiration, the waiter was rude and impolite and the price is too high for the little value you get.

Already went 4 times to this restaurant and the quality of the food, the presentation and taste is always wonderful. We had the 'surprise' menu, for each course there was eye for detail. Friendly service, good acoustics and enough space between the tables to have privacy during lunch/dinner.

We enjoyed our meal here very much. Fine dining with excellent amuse bouche treats. The waiter was good and helpful in answering our questions. However you may wish to check the menu as it is quite adventurous and perhaps not to everyone's taste [we loved it]. Also because it is not a huge restaurant, quite rightly the menu is not... More
