Good food, nice environment

We were a group of about 15 people and were seated on the upper level. That gave a nice view of the other parts of the restaurant, being an old warehouse remodelled and now a restaurant. We had a three course dinner with a selection of salmon or beef as the main course. I had the beef, and the... read more

My husband and I visited Ghent in early July. Since this was our only stop in Belgium we were interested in typical food and immediately thought of mussels and fries. Our walking tour guide said that the only places that would be serving mussels in July -- the wrong time of the year -- would be tourist places with over-priced... More

We visited Pakhuis for an evening meal and were thoroughly satisfied, the range was extensive, tastefull and very well presented. The staff gave excellent service and displayed a good knowledge of the wines on offer.

The evening sunshine enabled us to sit outside on the terrace which was lovely but meant that we didn't experience the amazing architecture inside the restaurant. The service was very good, apart from when we wanted to settle our bill, and the wine pairings which seem to be an option at many Ghent restaurants, were very nice. The food was... More

A native of Gent invited me to lunch and suggested Pakhuis. It's located in the Market Square right behind the Mac Donald's. For lunch it is very reasonable, 15 euros. There is a set lunch menu which changes everyday. You can order off a menu as well but for higher cost. When we ,went we had a soup starter and... More

Not cheap but we've eaten there twice this year and it has been worth every penny. Service friendly and attentive and the food and wine has been delightful. I'd recommend this restaurant over the Belga Queen every time.

The bistro is set in a wonderful building and is a terrific place to have lunch. The atmosphere is great and on the Monday we went it was packed. The house beer is a must have, really terrific. We both had the steak with salad, chips and a great bearnaise sauce. It was all ok but the steak was a... More

No matter when you visit this restaurant, you will always leave satiated. Great service, vibrant atmosphere, beautiful interior, I just love this place. They always serve seasonal dishes and the menus are very well composed. The prices are expensive but you get value for what you pay. It's a lovely restaurant in a lovely city.

This restaurant has it all: very nice setting, very well trained staff, nice food and normal prices. You need to book in advance, this restaurant is almost everyday fully booked. Before eating have a nice drink at the bar or in the lounge. Recommended !

So I found Pakhuis as I was walking around the side streets of Ghent. It was raining and the place was closed. Not a great start. I persevered and went back for dinner because I had been told this brasserie was quirky, and who can resist quirky. Bingo, I arrived early without a reservation and got seated quickly in this...
