This was a truly extraordinary place-it was so cluttered with early 20th century kitsch that you could hardly move! That said, eating here was an unforgettable experience, and for all the right reasons-the ambience was tremendous, and the food delicious, especially if you think,as we do that lobster is the best food in the world. Never before have I eaten more than one lobster... More

Saw this lovely little restaurant whilst wondering the side streets of Ghent one afternoon. Asked our concierge to book but couldn't get in until 2 nights later. Was worth the wait. Pizzas great! Salads and deserts really good too. Lovely Italian trattoria feel and full of locals not tourists. No menu in English which underlined fact more of a locals... More

Cannot fault the place, it was the highlight of my short Gent visit. Visited at random, despite having an allergy to crustaceans. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and explained my alternatives in detail. All food i tried, carpaccio and Angus, were top quality, as ws the desert. Chef sent over two rounds of treats that were much appreciated.... More

Astonishing interior and amazing food!! Completely in charleston style, it feels like you have entered another century with beautiful ancient photography and marvellous statues and decoration. And you haven't begun to eat yet... We had the Eliott lobster menu, 3 times half a lobster prepared in a different manner: absolutely delicious! And a fabulous house wine of the chardannoy and... Don't get me wrong it's OK. But it's not fine dining, not by a long stretch. The setting is tacky, the champagne blend. Both the starter (hot scallops with cold eel?) and the sorbet in between dishes (so cold it literally hurt) lacked refinement. As for the lobster, again it was quite OK, but didn't blow my socks off. Which... More

Stumbled on the House of Elliot on a day trip to Gent and decided to give it a try as a birthday treat. The waiters were able to squeeze my wife and little daughter into a corner table by the window (although we had no reservation and many other places in town seemed booked up). The decor is cool... kind... More

This is no ordinary eating experience - it is something you will remember and talk about for ever more! The décor is simply stunning and the service outstandingly attentive, friendly and informative. We went for lunch and had the 2 x lobster menu with a bottle of house white - highly recommended. If you're in Ghent this place is a... More

Amazing experience Beautiful, beautiful food and attention to detail! I had the lobster 6 ways and it was delicious. If I'm honest, it's a little more like 4 dishes with lobster and sauce as two of the dishes have very little lobster. But, in terms of flavours, it's exquisite. And after the scallop starter it was a perfect quantity. Lovely... More
