lobster blues

at least for the lobsters it's rather sad, but for us this was a very nice evening. The food is of high quality, the "gentse waarterzooi met kreeft" is sublime, and it is (still) affordable. The atmosphere is rather no nonsense, but service is correct. Our 5 course dinner took us about 2 hours, of... read more

This place is very authentic, with good quality food. We had the three course lobster trio. First one was delicious. Perfect temperature and combination of flavors ( with the guacamole). Second with sun dried tomatoes also good but the tomatoes overwhelmed the lobster a bit. The third was a massive disappointment. It was the one with coriander and was more... More

We took a 5 course dinner (EUR 50 per person including two/three rounds of drinks) and it took 2.5 hours, but it was worthwhile! Especially for that price! The time between the courses could be shorter, but again the dishes were delicious. We found this restaurant on the internet and we made reservations beforehand, which it is recommended by the... We were a party of 10 people celebrating a friend's 90th birthday - so a very special occasion. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate. A very good welcome from the staff and we were able to sit on the terrace. Although a little noisy from the road traffic and the occasional train this did not... More

You'll be stunned by this cosy and intimate fish restaurant in the outskirts of the historic city of Ghent, and facing the Leie river, alongside one can make magnificient romantic strolls. Le Grand Bleu serve top quality food at democratic prices : menu with fish as a starter (duo of salmon and cod, sorbet, lobster in tomato cream sauce, sabayon... More

Three times we went to 'le grand bleu'. Firts time prima (only a ten clients). The two next time : the resto was nerly full. After waiting +- 50 minutes we get our lobster (1 lobster/person) but they were so dry and hard to bite (chewinggum). The reason that they give : to much peole and lobster can't be fresh... More

First experience with this restaurant: poor service, crowded and noisy! So, we have decided for a next time to try the take a way. The opportunitty arrived with a special family birthday which we wanted to celebrate with a coupe of friends! Big mistake... Not just the dishes cost at least one euro more than the indicated on line (nothing... More

For our first wedding anniversary we booked beforehand a table at this small restaurant. As it was a monday, fortunately it was quite calm. The lobster menu was delicious and the wine was also very good. Foodwhise this was a memorable experience. The staff on the other hand wasn't that smiling and welcoming. From the kitchen we heard things that... More

Le Grand Bleu is one of my favorite restaurants in Ghent. We have been there 6 or 7 times sofa. The style is very much bistrot, with wooden tables without table cloth. The menu's are excellent value. The specialty is lobster of course, in a great variety of preparations. For groups of people (up to 25?), I recommend Le Jardin... More
