Poor Service - Lost It's Way

I've been visiting Het Waterhuis every summer for the last 10 years or so. Fantastic selection of beers & Lambics - although there never seems much change to the beer menu. This year I noticed a big difference. Staff didn't look interested. Customers were walking out because they couldn't get... read more

This has got to be one of the best bars in Ghent situated on the waterfront with seating outside or inside over 2 floors. They have a vast selection of beers and if you are feeling a little peckish they do a great selection of food try Kazen a tasty cheeseboard for 9.90 Euro. The service here is very good... More

We started with a De Koninck and a Pils. Both were good. I also tried the house special beer "Gandavua" which is dry-hopped. It was well balanced and very tasty. Some dry-hopped beers are almost bitter because they overhop them. This was a pleasant surprise.

We went to the Waterhuis after an evening meal at De Rave with the sole intention of having one beer, but ended up staying for more... Many more. Don't go straight to the bar, as it works on a table service system, and the waiters are extremely helpful and welcoming, but do expect to pay for your beer as soon... More

Was our default "watering place" either on the terrace by the canal or inside when raining. Magnificent range of beers and generally well run but the staff don't seem to smile too often. Service can be a little slow but then we weren't ever in too much of a rush.

This place used to be amazing, but on last visit found the waiters rude and condescending. The place is stuck in time and has no charm to it anymore. There are several other typical bars with a much better and more local atmosphere. The place is a victim of its former glory!

Great beer selection with smiley waiters who take the time to find the perfect beer for you. Nice location next to the river. The only problem is you could stay here for hours!

Visited the Waterhuis twice during my visit. Fine location by the canal, with a chance to watch the tour boats load and unload. Very fine selection of beers - great place to sit & relax. Get there early (or hover) for an outdoors seat. My favourite beer venue in Ghent

Where to start, in the mid of the water of in the mid of the alcohol? Let me start in the mid of alcohol, because I could not get a so much wanted lemon tea. (I had had already too much strong beer) I ordered a beer (surrounded by other teachers) and the big boss stared at me...Then I said:... More

This place looks great with many beers. Visited here 9th August. Waiters rude and surly Thought it funny to ignore us. Fortunately not typical of other people in this lovely city and found better bars with more friendlier service.
