Great Beer but crabby service ( to put it nicely)

This is a excellent place for all kinds of beer. They have an extensive beer menu with explanations. You can't beat the location, right on the canal. It's a fun place and was very crowded, but the servers were impatient and unfriendly. I think it was mostly aimed toward tourists. I would go back... read more

Lots of draught beers available including some of their own (whether by naming or actual brewing). Good, friendly service. I think the food is limited to basic sausage, cheese and mustard: we didn't eat here. Enviable location. Interior is a bit bland and it's rather "touristy", but it's a nice place to go.

My wife and I visited here after it was pointed out by a tour guide from one of the boat trips along the river. The beer selection was great. The location is central and is only a short walk from some of the main tourist spots. The prices of the beer are very reasonable for being so central. The only... More

A return visit after about 10 years, I had to use my phone to re-find this gem which I had originally stumbled upon. The downstairs was completely full and, sligthtly oddly, they did not have their outside tables in operation. It was chilly but I would definitely have say outside by the canal and most other venues had outside seating,... More

This was my second time in this "cafe", and I like it very much. They have a very good collection of Belgium beers, and it is fun to chat with staff if you sit on the bar. Did not eat anything, except the cheese besides my Chimay Blue, and they were both delicious. You can go out to smoke, and... More

Great beer, we loved them, but staff were more interested by TV on the wall then serving to the customers.

Ignore the others here who complain about the service; it's a bar, people! Not the Chez Paul and you aren't Abe Froman. Great tavern with knowledgeable bartenders about the HEAPS of beers they have available; both on tap and in bottles. And it's right on the canal.

We really loved this place, we ended up visiting twice on our 3 night visit to Ghent. The beers were absolutely amazing and the service was great. Even though it was busy enough the waitress had no problem explaining and suggesting different styles of beers. Prices are very reasonable too.

Visited this bar while in Ghent. First time we couldn't get in as so busy and there's actually not that many seats inside downstairs. Second time we had to sit upstairs. Didn't think the atmosphere is the same upstairs as downstairs but we got recommended to visit so we did. Stayed for 1 drink each. There our so many to... More
