Description: La Clef des Champs restaurant is one of Brussels favourites. Down a narrow street off the Place du Grand Sablon, in one of the citys irresistibly charming districts, this intimate, romantic restaurant has a large terrace outside where, if weather permits, you can complete the illusion that youre in the south of France. Run by the charming Bouillots, monsieur cooks and madame greets you at the door. This is authentic Lyonnais and Provencal cooking, changing seasonally. Try ravioli of crab in light curry sauce, cassoulette of ris de veau with port and mushroom jus, or enjoy a quite incredible cassoulet. The wine list includes some lesser-known labels that deserve discovery.

I was in Brussels earlier this month (July) and looking forward to a meal there but sadly it has been closed since the Spring. I found out through a friend of the couple who owned it, that the Monsieur who was it's chef and Madame, his charming wife who acted as the restaurant's welcoming host have retired and rather than... It was freezing day. The restaurants in Brussels have a common issue: Drafts everytime a customer comes in. First thing a liked: We were well plced, protected from the cold air. Second thing: The lady serving us, nice, soooo kind. And finally, the meal: Tasty, carefully cooked, presentation and colours well combined. Atmosphere: Light colours, good music, cozy, they make... This restaurant is perfectly located in the city centre, the service is great and the atmosphere quite 'housely' & cosy. We opted for the menu of €45 (3 courses, most 'expensive' one) and every dish we ate was really good. The wine was quite expensive (at least €30 per bottle) for the quality but not exaggerated as some of the... More

This was a great little place, near my hotel in the Grand Sablon. The service was excellent, as was the food and wine.

I had a fabulous lunch time meal. The food was fantastic and the service a mixture of attentive and friendly. We both loved every one of our three course and there were plenty of others I would have been happy to have chosen. I would recommend this place whole-heartedly.

We ate lunch here twice in one week between Cristmas and New Years. The set lunch at 17 or 20 Euros (2 or 3 courses) was a good deal. The place was small and reservations were needed. We had a nice steak, Lyon Sausage, Duck and pate. A good value, but to get the deal you have to pay in... More

You get typical French cuisine in the Brussels centre! The shrimp salad was very tasty and the coq au vin exactly as expected. The restaurant has only one waiter and you may wait a lot for service if you come as me in a larger (8 people) party!

This small, cosy restaurant serves really good food. The kitchen is french / belgian. Staff is really professional and friendly. We got complementary bubbles and chocolates at the end of a perfect evening. I'll definitely will return!

Overall, my family and I had a great dinner last Saturday. For a restaurant situated in the famous restaurant area (Sablon) in Brussels, I must say that the staff are very friendly and serve the customers with care. If you want to go to a romantic dinner, I would say this is the place. I like the decor; the colors,... More
