An intimate venue with good food and wine

We visited for dinner and were impressed by the attentive service and range of food on offer. It was delicious. The restaurant itself is cosy and small and the tables close together but we never felt intruded upon. Understanding French would help as, although we are English, we were greeted and... read more

Excellent on every level - food, service, welcome, ambiance, decor, wines, menu choice. This restaurant is one of those gems. We have been many times for a lazy evening, romantic dinner, special events, and never ever an 'off' visit. I can't praise this restaurant enough.

We had been looking forward for some time to testing this nicely decorated, small, restaurant in our neighbourhood . I enjoy French food, be it simple or sophisticated - as long as it is not pretentious. But here the overcooked 'filet de dorade au gingembre', tasted of nothing but ginger and came on a plate piled with a tomatoey rice... More

One of the best dinners I've had in Brussels so far. Small, cosy restaurant in what used to be a local butchers. Quirky interior decoration and beautiful old tiled walls. Ate there on a Friday night, very busy with a lovely, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The staff were excellent, and very knowledgeable about the wine and menu. Took a long... More

Fantastic atmosphere and host who is very happy to recommend a great wine to accompany your meal. It is not the cheapest place in Brussels (you will probably be spending at least 70 euros each) but it is definitely worth it.

Lovely small restaurant, very nice staff and excellent food. The chateau briand was fantastic, but way too much for 2 persons. Take the chocolate fondant to close your dinner, you will really enjoy.

We lived in Brussels for 4 years from 2006 to 2010 and this special, special restaurant was kitty corner to our beautiful brownstone off the gorgeous Avenue Brugman in Ixelles. If you love beef you MUST order the chateaubriand and the only thing you will hear the charming owner say in English is "We serve it rare". Period. Full stop.... More

Two minutes' walk from where I live is this gem of a restaurant. Monsieur is in the kitchen and Madame and a younger lady tend to the customers. Not a cheap restaurant but the quality never fails and service is impeccable. If you like beef, try their Chateâubriand (Irish beef) - it is out of this world but is only... More

La Canne En Ville has been in Brussels longer than me and it is a place that I always return to. It is smallish, I love the interior, service is friendly and food and wine are quality. Yesterday night I tried the salmon with avocado mousse and wasabi that was delicious. As a main course the chateaubriand was not a... More

Don't tell anyone else about this place. It's an amazing privately owned restaurant on the corner of a residential street in the city. We ate on a very warm summer evening, and had not booked, so couldn't have an outside table, but sat by the full open window inside. As the owner said, "You'll be even better there with the... More
