We visited La Grand Ecluse with a groupon voucher. We got excellent value for our money. The weather was absolutely nice. So of course this contributed to the experience. We both adore beautiful buildings. Most definitely this is one, although we did not sit inside - because of the weather - but in a surprising patio in the middle of... More

A year ago we had a very bad experience when going to this restaurant both food and service-wise (we were even served olives pits instead of olives in a covered recipient that they clearly forgot to trow out). This time decided to give it another chance since we heard that the restaurant was taken over by another owner and took... More

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday on a groupon voucher. Based on previous experiences with restaurants on vouchers, I have to say that the evening turned out to be very pleasant and quite a success. The menu is quite varied and interesting and mixes traditional northern European cuisine with other Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or Asian influences. The... More

Fascinating old building over an old lock. Service slow but then I found that that was generally the case in Belgium. Two people doing all the service so working hard. Very good food. I do feel that they could up their game a bit and create something stunning-keep polishing and refining I'd say- you'll soon have an absolute gem

We discovered this place by accident as we were just staying around the corner. It is in a building that used to house the "Grand Ecluse" or Large Lock and inside the old mechanical workings can be clearly seen. The food is interesting as well - a style that reflects both European and North African influences as befits the proprietor's... More

The restaurant is close to the Gard du Midi and so not in the best location in town however I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely secluded gardens where we had dinner. I was visiting Brussels on a business trip and the gardens provided a nice informal surrounding for a dinner with colleagues. The food in general was very good... More

Well, first you wait around 28 minutes to receive a menu. You may be slightly frustrated by such a wait, so you start timing: before a waiter appears to take your order: 29 min, before the entrees arive: 48 minutes (one would think that they're called entrees for a reason). Even then, they're not what you've actually ordered. The service... More

Formerly the restaurant of the nearby hotel, it opened under new management four months ago. Five minutes from the gare du Midi, in the reconverted lock over the Senne. The food was very good. We chose the menu degustation at 39€ a head It seemed well balanced and reasonably priced, and were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the... More
